1. Just because I can, and ive never really travelled much, but remember liking something about Asia when i was in the US Marines (perhaps the hookers? )

2. Cost of living, i live more like a king out here for 1/8th of the price... world class chef, 3 meals a day cost me 97$ a month, full time maid 75$ a month...

3. i am a sexual deviant and for 24$ for 24 hours i can have a goddess 18yo hooker, or two, or three =)

a month later I called my real estate agent in ny and told her to put my condo on the market

Called some friends and had them pack my stuff and ship it to me

I didnt leave the island for 6 months before taking my first trip

"Off the Rock"

I dont remember much of the first 2 years there

Like Jimmy say
" I dont know the reason
I stayed here all season...
Nothin is sure but this brand new tattoo...
But its a real beauty
A mexican cutie
how it got HERE I havent a clue...
Wastin Away in Margaritaville..
Searchin for my Lost shaker of salt..."

well, in en route to Miami's IA2000 of last, i was talking to the limo driver and he said he drove limos for 3 months, then lived in Thailand for 8 off of the proceeds... I was astounded, inquired about the chicks there, about the quality of life, he told me good stuff....

so i went to the convention...

met a guy from the UK, we got to talkin at one of the titty bar parties and he mentioned he just got back from thailand... he told me allll about the nightlife and i was stuck like chuck....

did an enormous amount of research, read a few BBS's on thailand, CIA factbook, etc, then decided to make the move =)

here i am...

did anybody help you situated there when you just came?

how did you find out the other webmasters living there?

kmanrox

i made some friends via a BBS on bangkok, found some ppl my age, one from the USA who owns an italian restaurant in boston, and he moved there a week before me, we hooked up, hung out... explored..... i also lined some women up online and they toured me around/translated showed me where everything was, got my cellphone, etc.... the expats on the BBS showed me around, then i started making connections, purely coincidentally with the former sexlist guy (or so he says), whom then told me he knows seth, and was introduced to him, and then a chain reaction...

i've settle down with a hot thai TS and have regained my Hermit/work too much status =)

and as far as being situated with the living space, i researched 'serviced apartments' on the web, and consulted with some BBS people as to the downlow on these places.... when i moved out here after meeting the forementioned people i met like 3 other webmasters that live out here, one of them advertises in your white square above ;-)

give Seth my regards,
I have no ill wishes towards him, as I was smart enough never to be screwed by him, by asking MONEY UPFRONT
;-)))

as a mater of fact, I think I shaved him for a couple hundreds and very PROUD of it, not many people can say the same

I love hearing when people take chances and just up and move somewhere exotic.

I am very interested myself. I have traveled a lot around Europe, the Islands, etc...but never East Asia, I've heard good things.

Now I've got the itch.

I still like the British Virgin Islands, but it sounds like you have a good thing going on.

mike, amentities are as good as any big city in the world.... theres quite a few 5 star hotels, trendy hollywood nightclubs, high speed internet all over the place, a 'beverly hills' area (Sukhumvit/Lang Suan) CBD, central business district, the road with all the embassies on it, there's world class shopping, around 5 malls, with stores to include prada, gucci, chanel, louis voutton (sp), dior, etc, etc... 360 degree views penthouses for $2k a month on the 40th floor in sukhumvit apartments.... a resort studded beach town 1 hour away, carribean colored/clear waters, with island you can rent a speedboat to go to, diving, parasailing, etc... taxis everywhere, even motorcycle taxis that cut right thru the traffic and get you anywhere within 10 minutes in bangkok for $1.10 ..... there's alot of expats, mainly 45yo+ ugly bastards who cant get laid in their home countries, most from the UK/Australia, then Germany, and the least i've noticed is Americans... either way, everybody here is smiley, LOS they call it, land of smiles, polite, laid back, no fights rarely, no pissed of taxi drivers (even with some of the worst traffic in the world)

the only thing i dont like is the smog, theres alot of it... and it's hotter than hitler's cauldron in hell here so i sweat like a pig...

massages go for 6$ for 1.5 hours, get a 1 hour foot massage for $4, they're places plastered everywhere for these massages, and if you know the right place, they'll 'finish' you off for another 8$ ;-)

i love this place, but i must admit, before i get old (15 years younger than serge in other words ;-))) ) i would like to live in prague and then unto amsterdam... here i will smoke weed every day until i get lung cancer, then i will proceed to the USA to die in the best country in the world =)

Bangkok is definately hot and smelly in the summertime.

the best thing about Bangkok in my opinion (besides the abundance of transexuals that Seth is after) is the food. there are so many world class restaraunts there and they are cheap. its awesome. Thai food is the best.

i used to have an apartment in The Emporium Suites on Sukhumvit. it was a good place to be.

its cheap
people are fairly pleasant
but the polution there is bad
its hot as fuck in the summer time. really muggy.

its an interesting place to be. there are a ton of people in adult there. i know many people that live there that are in adult that few have heard of. one welll known sponsor on this board lived there for years though he posted through a proxy server somewhere else.

Me too - congrats on following your instincts. Most of us here in the US are exotic-location phobic. Sure, we really LIKE thinking about them, but most of us rarely have the balls to re-locate from our own backyards. I remember all the folks in my home town thought my parents were CRAZY moving us kids from Ohio to "exotic" California. lmao

Now Europe...I've always wanted to explore Europe. See where my ancestors came from and see all the landmarks first-hand. Hopefully we can get there someday. Would love to take the kids. We're looking into some Bahamas vacations this year - that's our FIRST exotic step forward. Baby-stepping it! Sure beats that Grand Canyon trip we WERE planning.

Kman,

Thailand sounds great. We should do a webmaster trip there. Me and fletch would love to go.

Pretty direct flight from here in Portland, I belive I can fly right out of Seattle Direct or San. Fran.

Also, Prauge is great. I have made about 13 trips there now, and I love it.

I'd rather see a house that fucks. I'd rent the shit out of a house that fucks.

Cuz I follow a similar rule that Serge does:

"If it flys, floats, or fucks...you are better off renting than buying."
