Don LaPre is a god
:wnw:
made a ton of money selling a book telling other people how to write books, self-publish them and make money.......
He missed out a bit on the Internet boat and still seems to be playing catchup with Marlon Sanders, Robert G. Allen and Harvey Segal though......

Oh for fucks sake you moron, pay more attention in English class and less time chatting on AIM... it's possible that irony and sarcasm might be clear to you if you did. And that you'd realize the shot was at this norfin fool, not at you.
But while we're on the topic of you, if you make 3-4k a month and only work 20 hours a week, how can you have no job? I think you've confused self-employed with unemployed. Once again, while you're in school, pay attention since one day the internet might go pooft! and you'd have to then become employed.

If I'm not mistaken, Don Lapre declared bankruptcy. Robert G. Allen did also if I recall correctly. I think both of them may have bounced back though. (for the time being)
Follow most of the get rich quick guys and it goes great for a while, but ends in bankruptcy down the line usually.
There's a site somewhere that lists all the big "info gurus" who have fallen from grace by either going broke, to prison, or both. It's basically a who's who of that business.

Yup, Robert Allen has come back a few times...I think he learned his lesson the first time ;) He was too busy not following his own advice (which is actually quite good)
I did some creative work for Robert Allen a looooooooooooooooong time ago. He is one of the best salesmen I've ever met. He wasn't always the greatest at actually running a company though.
He's doing quite well with his new venture.
Don LaPre made a major miscalculation and missed the Internet game entirely. He also made the mistake of not cranking out his Version 2's enough....and I believe his ex-wife took a big chunk with her as welll, but forget the whole story.
I think Don will quietly disappear because he's too far ebhind in the inetrnet information game.
marlon Sanders will probably end up becoming quite the marketing diety beyond what he already has achieved.
There have been a lot of "info gurus" goes out of business quickly...most were students of Don LaPre too ;)))
I thought Don Lapre was in jail for a while, whilst (learned that in english class once) his infomercials were still on the air.
There are a ton of get rich quick schemes out there and as we all know in theory a lot of them work well but only for the guy that started them :)
As far as the internet going pooft. Thats cool. I can sell anything, whether its direct sales or through marketing on the internet. My plans currently are to build a couple more sites up to nice income levels and then will continue with my own internet marketing for 2 more years until i decide to sell a couple of them off and work for someone else. Thats only for the benefits and not having to make the big decisions. Im not in this for just the dollar. Im looking more to make friends, which it seems im doing here haha and to put some money away for later.
I took snowboarding this year to graduate... so now im just playing in a 300 level marketing class for fun. Im essentailyl done school now, the rest is just waiting til the semester is officially over. I took a year off for school for health reasons, was one credit short of grad. hence the snowboarding to graduate :P
Its all good we are all here for the same general reasons. If anyone needs some help with internet marketing and search engine optimization lemme know.

Back when Don was at the height in his career, he owed a 900 provider I worked with in Nevada about $14K and they couldn't get him to pay...I had my doubts on his staying power after finding that out. :awinky:

...and what's wrong with that? ;)
Nothin I want to write a book and sell it too lol im sure if it would work we all would
The one that always gets me is teh one about buying cars cheap, fixing them, driving them a bit and selling them for a profit. It always seems to be on at 3 am when im half awake typing on here.
In theory its simple on soo many levels. From the skinny prick trying to motivate you to buy...: Cars are something anyone can relate to, they more than likely have either sold one, bought one and thought they paid too much, or know someone who has done one of the above. It also strikes a chord with men because they think they know a lot about cars and could fix them easy enough. It hits people with kids because these dads can get soem bonding time with their kids while earning them both money and instilling responsibility for juniors future. One last thing he does is show these people that have dreams of owning certain cars, that they in fact can not only own them and drive them but they can then sell them for profit and get something else.
Its a great job on his behalf. cars are easily found, easily repaired, and easily sold at a markup. the problem is after you get done with buying, titleing, fixing, registering, finding a buyer, retitleing, fixing anything to ensure the sale, often teh amount of markup you get is squat :(
In theory, if you were an educated buyer and had teh resources, it would be slightly more than a living. realistically you will fall by the wayside if not.
I keep wanting to try that program LOL i keep the phone out of arms reach when its on. (i own 7 cars right now 6 need work and 1 im paying too much for and its a 98 lol) Oh well you live once right?

Don's alive and well, he lives here in Phoenix and is occasionally out and about... as I heard it, he's dissociated himself with his web mess and is doing something else... of course if you type in donlapre.com, the redirect has a picture of Cindy Margolis on it, ironically enough ;)

last i knew don lapre was broke and bankrupt long ago.
the infommercials that ran on tv for a few years (which never changed if no one noticed) were done under license after he had sold out everything he had. for most of the time those informercials ran on TV, he had no association with them.
"for most of the time those informercials ran on TV, he had no association with them."
Wasnt aware of that but it makes a lot more sense now.
On a similar note when your entire brand is built around 1 person or 1 personality how do you successfully make that jump after that personality is gone...
1 mainstream example being wendys - I cant remember seeing a memorable Wendys commercial after "Daves death".
1 adult exampe would be one of steves sites over at lightspeed. What if Raimi one day decides she worth more money than anyone else thinks she is or starts looking older or god forbidden she gets hurt and no longer can work in teh industry for who knows what reason. (http://www.xxxraimi.com) Unless he has content stored would be have to
A. find someone that looked similar to her and try to integrate her and then have her become the next Raimi or
B let that site slowly become in active while trying to convert its members over to a similar one?
I know that I spoke with him once about a similar issue and its possible this already occured with another model he had but I took a year off so I honestly dont know how that turned out. BUT what do you do if you have pigeonholed yourself into a specific site with a specific girl that you have little control over. (without bringing up pre signed contractual obligations because those do have ending periods)

Heffner was out of Playboy business for a long time also...
so?

one would think that stored content would be a priority for him... after all, our very own MikeAI has a ton of single girl sites that don't actually require the presence of the girls on too many occasions...

It was successful after he was gone. It was successful loooooooonnnng after he was gone. Don Lapre infomercials ran for at least a couple years with no one having the slightest clue he had nothing to do with them. so i guess it can be done quite easily.
The Tonight Show seems to be doing just fine.
His own main site www.donlapre.com up until a couple months ago was just an apology, legal notice and explaination that he had nothing to do with whatever that infomercial promoted. ("placing tiny ads in .... blah blah blah"

:yowsa: I think he's lost! What a stupid place to post this type of ad.
But leave it to Oprano to turn useless spam into a party!
Don Lapre was a hottie... I'd've done him! Definitely not an unpleasant sight during a girl's good-night diddle.
Retired porn star sites -- they can be as successful as you make them. I've got one that I haven't touched for 2 years (http://sahara-sands.com), because I'm either too busy or too lazy to fuck with it. I code site shit all day for the corporate master and a steady paycheck that keeps me alive in Los Angeles; so the last thing I want to do is more at night! Besides, that site generates income for me, and that's all that matters at the moment.
I'm damned sure I could turn Sahara's site into a paysite if I was willing to put in the effort, but I'm simply not that motivated right now. :biglaugh:
