Alot of questions here and on other boards are about things we can sometimes find in resource sites around the net.
Do we not use them because its easier to ask? Or because we don't know good resource sites?

I read through resource sites from time to time but sometimes it is just easier to get to grips with an issue when you can take part in an exchange of views rather than just reading a straight forward tutorial. Also, I think the two forms of getting help compliment each other well as the forums allow you to get further information on perhaps a particular aspect of an issue that you may not have understood in an article or tutorial.

I check them out from time to time, when I am trying to look something up, or to find a new place to send traffic to.
Amazing how many are out there.... lots of competition.
Damn
I can't believe I had to make a new account.
Yes...I visit all resource sites...MikeAI, you are right. You have to know what others are doing.

We ask because we trust the opinions of our peers more than we trust random lists of sponsors who are added to said resource sites for the sake of making them look like they have lots of resources.
Notice oprano has a minimal resource section?
Have you seen GBU?
I know if i'm looking for *anything*, that someone around here has probably done business with someone who they can recommend or not recommend. I trust that a lot more than I trust the 100's of 'pile of crap' resource sites that are out there.

Excellent point. A recomendation from someone I know, I trust and I do business with is much better then just going to a resource site hawking everything.
I like to get the low down, and some contacts and reach out, or get an introduction....

true.
but then again there are resouce sites with webmasters rating and comments, like adultheadsup new thingy. Tough most resorce sites don't have this rating/comment feature. Maybe its something they all should add in order to raise their validity?

I am not sure if that matters. An opinion from someone I know is worth all the opinions from GFY or any other place. So rankings, while a novel idea, would not effect me.
In this business, there are still a lot of people who will not come out publicly and say something negative about a company or person. ( many times the people who do are newbies who are just lashing out, nad probably caused the problem in the first place) Therefore, I pick up the phone, or hit friends up in ICQ to find out what the deal is with new porgrams, content providers, hardware, etc....

most of those ratings are given to the company by their own employees so it doesn't mean anything
most of the folks on this board have done business together for years, you can't match that kind of trust with a resource listing.
the only resource listing i need is this board and my icq!

I do visit them ~sometimes~ when i'm searching for specific info (only visit resourse sites with an easy search option) or some more info on topics. Just use it as a rough reference though.
There are some good articles around about almost every subject but why do they have to be so looooong?
