'King without crown'

BBC correspondent Emma Jane Kirby, in Paris, says that many French people, who believed this was an illegal and hot-headed war, have been stunned by the welcome American forces received in Baghdad on Wednesday.

The French newspaper, Liberation, has warned that President Chirac is now threatened with isolation on the international stage.

He has become, says the paper, the king of peace without a crown.

Our correspondent says France fears the US will cut it out of contracts for the reconstruction of Iraq for failing to back the coalition.

there were quite a few stories in the Arab press about people in Arab countries being in complete dismay when they saw what happened too after being led to believe that their "Islamic brothers were being invaded by imperialists"

Alex must be very upset by now.

I say....
FUCK THE MOTHER FUCKER!
Its amazing how low-life zero-dignity snake SOB petty-thief can a person be.
And now they are saying they "as a democracy" are happy to see the regime go? FUCK THE MOTHER FUCKERS!
When Dominique DeVillepen was asked if he wants US to win the war - he didn't answer :moon: FUCK HIM!
AND PUTIN
AND the German government.

:bdance:
Fuck them

I can only imagine what will happen once the majority of Baghdadians feel like it is safe to go outside.

I have an idea. Russia and France can join the coalition to build a new Iraq if they split our $70 billion war cost + British and Australian costs .. OR .. let them off easy and we create an amendment regarding nonproliferation "at all costs" into the UN charter as fair trade.

Diplomacy sometimes requires sacrifice.

If America stands firm, I think we'll soon see a change in leadership in France and Germany...

Pictures of liberation are very powerful.

I know from reading GFY that there were a lot of people in the world that thought Saddam wasn't as bad as the US claims. Funny, huh?

True - France, Russia and Germany has chosen a course in their diplomatic level - and now its time for their sacrifice. Its time for them to pay the results of their choices - they should be kept out of the process untill the people of those countries realize how cynical and sinister their governments were and kick the mother fuckers out. Those countries should go RADICAL changes on political and psychological levels.
By RADICAL I mean EXTREMELY RADICAL.

I think it's rather ironic that two countries who are living proof AGAINST the 'American Imperialism' BS are now on the opposite side from us in this...(I still want a 'finger' smilie)

bush missed a great chance during the developement of the coalition.

when france and germany declared that they were not in support, their war repairation debts should have become immediately due.
we should have frozen their assests, sent their dipolmats home and left them to deal with each other again.

how soon they forget

Colin, I saw Sen. McCain last night on TV, he said that if France and Russia really want to help, they can forgive Iraq the 100+ Billion $$ debt. I thought it was a great idea.

If they want be involved with the "rebuilding" they should come in with clean hands.... I really think that the US is going to push for some type of international "bankrupcy" where the new Iraq will settle for 5 cents on the dollar of debt.

No way Russia, France should benefit for their shady deals with Saddam, while at same time working against us.

It is a good article, I hope this become the tetonic shakeup in the region that it could possibly be... that is overly optimistic, but it would be great!

Fuck Them....With Serges splintered broomstick.

Just a random thought on the subject of cheering

It is more than obvious the Iraqi's are over joyed at seeing Saddam out of power, but are they cheering us as liberators, or are they cheering out of fear.

Remember for as long as many of them have been alive - NOT supporting the people in power would result in death, tourture, and even worse.

Also remember that for most of their lives they have been force fed that the US is the great Satan. (A little bit like American Students are by the NEA)

Do they cheer in Joy or in Fear ? It will probably be many years before we know for sure.

i thought that was a great idea too, until Russia announced it was a good idea that the USA forgive all Soviet Era debt.

HAHA point JR. Though I wonder how much debt the former USSR really owed the United States? I do not think we were too eager to loan them money back when they were the "Evil Empire" and we were spending them into the ground with an arms race.

Now the trillions we have loaned to Russia is another story. But I think Russia is still around.... and a "democracy" right?
