To those on this board who said the United States would get bloodied, said it would be another Vietnam. WRONG!

To those who said we were doing the wrong thing. Nice to know you aren't in charge and can play Armchair Politician, because you were WRONG! Tell it to the happy Iraqi people in the street, how we did the wrong thing.

Most of all, to those who doubted the United States... We are the ONLY Super Power in the World. Live with it.

I agree with you Anthony and Buff. Being 2 former military men, I now you are broud of these guys. I know I am very proud of not only them kicking ass, but also the dedication to preserving human life, and being very disciplined in a tough spot.

I am sure it was tempting to go trigger happy, especially when people were dressing as civilians, doing the fake surrender stuff, and of course the suicide bombers.

Even on the interviews, they could be gloating - but they all say they wanted to get to Baghdad ASAP because that is the road home.

Great guys!

how many iraqi civilians were killed? how much of the country is fucked up beyond repair right now? have we found the wmd that we gave saddam a few years back yet?

All in good time ref the WMD's. He had a long time to hide them. My guess is Syria.

Ref casulaties.... Are you daft? Do you really think no one dies in war? Get out of your computer playing Keyboard Commando on Star Craft. Wars kills people. This war has been one of the bloodless for it's scope and intensity.

Chew on that. Then try another lame old argument.

I would also like to bring up that in all probablity, given the history of the United States towards countries that have been defeated... All seem to prosper. Why is that?

A movie was made on it actually. Something with a mouse. I'll find it and be more than happy to post it.

From what I have read, and this is from Iraqi gov't sources ( what is left) so its probably over inflated if anything, but there has been about 1,000 Civilian deaths in this war.

While it does suck for these people, and the US does not target Civilians, that is an EXTREMELY low number. Hell that is a slow weekend for Quasay and Uday with the Kurds or Shi'ates.

While we cannt bring these people back, with a new regime, the mass murder that went on in that past will be over with, so more people will live!

Nap, I think your one of the people who must have beleived everything Baghdad Bob said on his briefings....

Not nearly as many as could have been, nothing necessary is fucked up that cannot be repaired or replaced, and there is a logical order to the events: attack, occupy, secure, then search and interview people like the iraqi scientists. You cannot do an in depth search while there is still a war.

I don't have access to all the final numbers nor what they will be
but one of the things I think and hope the USA lost the most was SOME of the ill will from many other countries around the world

Sources were saying that Saddam was murdering about 20-30k per month...I doubt we got anywhere near that figure. Or was what he was doing ok because they were his to do with as he wished? :salute:

As for the WMD's, I would guess that your ONLY source of news is the TV and that you love CNN...

The job of the military is to kill people and break things; and I believe we have been very precise, considering.

Don't assume. I really dislike CNN or MSNBC. I mainly watch foxnews and check a few sites over the internet. Dropping more bombs in the first 24 hours that was used in the entire desert storm you really dont think we have reached 30k dead? Funny how those cameras that were placed in city never had any good footage, yet the air campaign was 24/7.

Are you related to the Iraqi minister of information?

I saw and heard explosions almost every night I watched TV - and I watched a lot. I say "and heard" because I noticed you can't see the explosions that occur BEHIND the hotel ;-)

On the flat-ocean, one can see about 24 km due to the curvature of the Earth. It's considerably less in a city. It looked to me like one could see something like 10km maybe. Iraq contains 437,072 sq km of land and water.

Considering the rather swift run through the vaunted Elite Republican Guard, I'd say most of the munitions were dropped on them - something you can't see from an Al Jazeera camera mounted at the Palestine Hotel no matter how hard you squint.

"24/7" doesn't truly mean continuous. 7/11 is open 24 hours per day but often at 4am the clerk is just sitting around by himself checking out the latest issue of Playboy getting horny enough to hit on the ate-up 18 years olds on their way home that couldn't hook up even at a rave.

So you are the one at the library that checks out the conspiracy theory books... be careful the govt. could be monitoring this thread and you could end up becoming a military target someday.

Colin you make me want to be a 7/11 clerk now, damnit.

dead...I can only quote Patton who said:
"You don't win the war by dieing for you country-
you make your enemies die for theirs"

dead enemy is a good enemy
