View Full Version : I'm Looking For code to eliminate frames

When I send a link or an ad to Hotmail addresses and other web based email services, my site always appears in a frame after the user clicks on it. The coding of my shopping cart software doesn't allow users to purchase items while in a frame. I’m trying to eliminate that frame.
I have already tried to create a pop-up window however, hotmail still creates their frame around it.
Is there any code I can use to eliminate that frame so users can go directly to my site?
Or does anyone have an idea of how to route customers to avoid the frame.
One simple way is to tell them to Copy/Paste a URL, but who would really do that?
Please Let me know If you have any code or ideas.
Thanks,
Steve

This should work. Getting into hotmail and having them see it in the inbox is pretty easy once you know.
<script>
if (parent.frames.length > 0) {
parent.location.href = self.document.location
}
</script>
For some reason, the closing doesn't work so remember to put in /script

Will this open a fresh/new window, not attached to any Hotmail window. Usually it has a frame that says something like "You are visiting a site outside of Hotmail. To return to Hotmail, close this browser window."
That's What i'm trying to eliminate.

it depands on the frame, but this one used to work for me
<script language=JavaScript><!--
if (top.frames[1] == "[object Window]")
parent.location=location.href;
//--></SCRIPT>

add < /SCRIPT > at the end

Hotmail still traps it in their frame with that script. It does however open a new window but I can't escape the Hotmail Frame.
Any other ideas how to get it out, into it's own Unframed browser?

How about a referrer check that looks to see if the surfer came from Hotmail, and if so, puts up a link saying "Hotmail users click here" that does a target=_top link to the same page?

That doesn't work either. Hotmail still creates their frame which hinders customers from adding items to my cart.

why don't you write hotmail tech support and ask THEM what to do?
I'm sure they don't wanna stifle internet commerce...
