Reuters - Trump and his real estate business empire The Trump Organization have teamed up with NBC for a 13-episode reality TV series called "The Apprentice," which tests the abilities of 20 candidates in New York's corporate jungle and lands the winner a six-figure salary job as Trump's aide.
NBC said on Tuesday that contestants will face a series of tough assignments, with those failing to make the grade subject to a grueling interview by Trump at the end of each round. Trump will personally fire one candidate from the contest each week.
Trump said in a statement issued by NBC that he was excited to be working on the show. "Mentoring up-and-coming executives has been something I've always enjoyed, and this is a way to discover a new generation of business leaders in a fun, entertaining and cut-throat way -- not unlike the real business world."
"The Apprentice" was dreamed up by Mark Burnett, executive producer of the CBS hit reality franchise "Survivor." No broadcast date has yet been set.
