Reports that shiites in basrah have started an uprising against saddam's locals.

I heard same thing, being reported by Sky news.

Interesting, I heard the saddam thugs ( forgot their name) were actually going through city beating people, and putting guns to males heads making them fight. Not a good way to keep people on your side.

This is good news for us. If this is true, we need to get in the city and help them out as much as we can so its successful.

This would be great. Would be much better for the Iraqi people (and coalition probably) if Iraqis feel they liberated their own country with coalition help rather than coalition "liberating" them.

Much less likely in Baghdad with the Iraqi gestapo in place.
