Good article Peaches.
I feel so bad for these people...I wonder though....watching Saddam's portrait come down and going from chanting Saddam to Bush....do you think they are scared of US troops which is why they are chanting Bush the same way they chanted Saddam because of fear??
I truly hope they understand that the US is there to help them and that there is nothing to fear.....

Its heartening to see all the supporters of what the USA is doing on tv, and to think that our military is made up of all volunteers, but still willing to fight for whats right.
Then you see all the protesters in the streets, making complete idiots
of themselves, fighting, causing grief to all whom live in that area.
I cant believe these people can call themselves americans. I wonder,
what these assholes would think if something happend in their
city like a terroristic action, that could have been prevented if the protesters were not tying up all those police and nat guardsman.
In a recent hockey game in Canada, during the Nat. Anthem for the
US team, the audience boo'd, This I would expect, but to see all
the protesters in america, well, this is just embarrassing, and pisses
me off to no end. Has there ever been a war that was protested that
made the US Gov stop and say, hmm ok, all these people must know
something that we dont, so we wont goto war?
Protesting war is like trying to teach a pig to sing.
You only make yourself look like an idiot and annoy the pig.

More protestors killed in past 2 days world-wide than Americans KIA in Iraq. Protesting is dangerous.

But Does that make it Right ?? This war has abolutely nothing to do with terrorist action against America. The terrorist Bin Laden is still at large. This is a totally contrived bullshit action to make like Dubya is doing something to deserve his Presidency. It will cost a lot of inocent lives, and I really feel for the familys of the American Soldiers killed , because some idiot wants to prove he has a big dick.

JFK, do you know what the CIA does? Do you not understand Saddam himself is a terrorist? Protest all you want. You are clearly angry that Bush is the President. Maybe if you stepped away, looked at what Saddam was doing, and didn't do it with a left wing perspective you might understand why we are there. I would have supported Clinton (even though I think he is the spawn of Satan) if he would have went into Iraq. My point being, you have no clue what intel we had that led to this.

Ulfie, We are there on a pretext....... My perspective aside, Saddam is not the terrorist he is made out to be. Where are the weapons of mass destruction, that he should be using to defend himself?? They are not being used , why , could it be possible they do not exist ?? Dubya could catch a terrorists in a wet paper bag. He is going after an easily identifyable target that has been made out to be larger than life. As far as the CIA.......they are Sainted I am sure....Never told a lie...and I am sure you have as much clue as to what they are doing as I :okthumb:
I can't get over the protestors that are holding up signs saying no blood for oil - this has nothing more to do with oil than the civil war had to do with cotton.
These people are running around with blinders on and either can't or just choose not to see the real issues.
If you're going to oppose this war then you might as well go snag custom t-shirts that say:
"I Support Genocide"
"I Support Slavery"
"I Support Tyranny"
"I Support Oppression"
"I Support Terrorists"
and wear them proudly.
The same bleeding hearts opposing this war are the same ones that yelled that enough wasn't done prior to 9/11 to prevent it.

They've launched dozens of missles they claimed they didn't have at Kuwait. Thankfully, they are so inept they didn't hit anything. I really hope we have taken Saddam out because I gaurentee he will use everything he has to try to stay in power. He wanted a battle and he got one. I hope his $20 billion are spendable in hell.

JFK,
Protesting is your right, but no, that doesnt make it RIGHT!
I hope N Korea is next. Damn I wonder how long the protesters
can last not going to work, school, etc...
As explained to me by one of my best friends, whom is in Seal Team 8,
"People that protest what we do, simply dont understand whats going
on, nor do they deserve to because they live their lives with blinders on."
"We enter into the military fully aware of the danger that comes with the job."
What that means is, yes, your right, there are innocent peoples lives at stake, but, there are things that must be done, either by us or someone
else, and our president just so happens to have the balls and sense to do it.
Mike AI explained it best in another post, Bush isnt doing this as a publicity stunt, or to advance his career, he is doing this because its the right thing to do.
Yes, Some People live their lives with Blinders on !

What makes *me* sigh is that people are still bitching on message boards and in public articles/newsletters that Bush "stole" the Presidency or that he doesn't "deserve" it.
It's 2003, folks... play catch-up. A lot of things have happened since you decided to hold your breath and stop moving forward back in November of 2000. You're *not* going to get your way, so may as well come on up to this year.
By the way, multiple independent full recounts have been done again and again of those votes and no matter who did it, no matter what criteria they used, Bush WON.
So come on up to March 2003, okay? Right now there are thousands of our daughters and sons, wives and husbands, sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers who are out there in the world trying to bring the freedom you enjoy to a people who have never known it, and they sure could use your support.
No matter what YOU think of their Commander In Chief, whom they respect and honor, or why you think that "HE" did this (where is the hatred for your congressmen and senators who gave full unanimous permission for this to happen?), THEY are out there risking their lives to bring liberation to a country. Show some respect.

Carrie...
They may indeed respect and honor the 'Commander and Chief'... In the military you are taught that you salute/respect the rank, if not the man (woman)... Showing support for the position of C&C greatly differs from a blanket statement that they respect Bush.
Kinda hard to count disenfranchised voters no matter who is doing the recounting, independent or no; and no doubt both sides were shaving like it was... well... adult in 2000...
History is meant to be looked back and drawn on (not dwelled upon and certainly not swept under the rug and pretend it didn't occur). History is also in the eye of the beholder and damn near always written by the 'winner'.... That doesn't make their version any more true than someone else's who was on the receiving end of the beatdown or even looking on from the sidelines...
Every single one of us carries the burden of a unique perspective skewed by our ideological coke bottle glasses; the only true commonality is everyone's vision is just as fucked up as the next persons...

It is just about hilarious that ANYONE visiting this board actually believes they know what this war is about. Our government, just like every other government tells us as much about anything as we "need to know".
They know more than we do, this is not just some Cowboy on a get even for Dad mission.
I have said more than once GW is far from the sharpest tool in the shed, take away his telepromptor and I am not sure the man could win a third grade spelling bee, :) but he did not make the decision alone, theoreticaly the final call was his, in reality he made the call the concenses of our elected leaders told him to make.
Perhaps next week we can debate nuke-U-lar physics since we all have about as much knowledge in that as we do the REAL reasons behind this war. :nyanya:
Now that I made that statement we are going to find out that Colin is a part time nuclear physisist becasue it is fun
Lets just hope the whole mess is over quickly without too much colatteral damage and we do follow through with our pledges of giving control to the Iraqi people to finally own their country.

In 1939, if some of you had been around, I'd imagine you'd have been saying, "We really ought to keep our noses out of Europe. Those imperialistic Brits are at it again." .
Enough people did say that, including FDR, and we stayed out long enough for almost 12 million people to be slaughtered, not counting the fun and games that Stalin was having in Russia at that same time.
Sadamm Hussein is a butcher, to a lesser degree than Hitler simply because he doesn't have the same number of people at his disposal, but nevertheless, a freaking butcher.
Did you read the article that Peaches posted? How many thousands of celebrants were slaughtered when we decided not to invade Iraq the last time?
In the US, people aren't generally killed for cheering because we think the President isn't going to be re-elected. You think perhaps the Iraqi troops killed all those people on their own? I don't think so. "So-Damned-Insane" ordered all those murders. He's been involved in wholesale genocide for years.
We know he has internationally-outlawed chemical and biological weapons. The fact that he hasn't used them YET is no proof that they don't exist. And I'd bet that for every weapon we know about, he has 5 we don't know about.
Be realistic. This guy is even crazier than Hitler. Most of his own people hate him, with good reason. His oldest son is a murderer and rapist, his younger son isn't any better.
Yeah, let's pull out of Iraq and wait until he launches some deadly virus on Kuwait or Turkey. Great idea.
Now, I don't claim to know the entire story, none of us outside the inner circle does. But to say that we're there just for oil is simplistic. To say we're there to further Bush's career is, as well.
IMHO Hussein should have been taken out in 91. That wasn't in the plans back then, but thousands of innocent people would still be alive today if we had.
I've made it clear that I do not support the WAY we went about getting into this military action, even though I'm not arguing the fact that ousting Hussein is indeed long overdue. It's probably a more difficult position than those who are more firmly on one side or the other.
While I support the right of Americans to peaceful forms of protest, I've gotta say that my support does NOT include blocking the entrance to buildings or military bases, or in any way, shape or form disrupting people as they go about their business -- even if that business includes doing something that is directly related to the war that's being protested.
Stand there with your signs and chant, rant or whatever... that's your right. But if your form of protest involves impeding civil servants (like at State buildings, etc.) or the military, you shouldn't be surprised to be dragged off and arrested.
I no more support protesters blocking the entrance of a military base during this war than I do those who block the entrances to abortion clinics. Peaceful protest is one thing, impeding the ability of people to do their JOBS is something altogether different. There's a big difference between making your grievances known and making it impossible for people to do what they get paid to do.
Crossing the line between peaceful protest and interference with the duty of others doesn't do a damned thing to garner any sympathy for the position of the protesters, and in fact probably just pisses people off so much that they close their ears, minds and hearts to the point they're trying to make in the first place.
There are obviously plenty of morons to go around on BOTH sides of the issue, and they each do their supporters a world of harm by resorting to extremes.

A group of American anti-war demonstrators who came to Iraq with Japanese human shield volunteers made it across the border today with 14 hours of uncensored video, all shot without Iraqi government minders present. Kenneth Joseph, a young American pastor with the Assyrian Church of the East, told UPI the trip "had shocked me back to reality." Some of the Iraqis he interviewed on camera "told me they would commit suicide if American bombing didn't start. They were willing to see their homes demolished to gain their freedom from Saddam's bloody tyranny. They convinced me that Saddam was a monster the likes of which the world had not seen since Stalin and Hitler. He and his sons are sick sadists. Their tales of slow torture and killing made me ill, such as people put in a huge shredder for plastic products, feet first so they could hear their screams as bodies got chewed up from foot to head."

the war saying, "I am usually proud to be an american but today, Im not."
Is this how these cockholsters see freedom as an american, a convienience?
How fucking pathetic!!!!!!!!!!
Bring back the draft and start with protesters, Give them a taste of reality.
i've had enough reality
i wish i could turn off the tv
i'm not sure which is worse, what's on my tv or whats happening 100 yards up the road
lucky me lives in the middle of the most political hippy suburb in brisbane
there may just be some violence here today if I get one more flyer shoved in my face telling me to write to my prime minister, or asking me 'what are YOU doing to stop the war?" The answer is NOTHING! I'm hoping there are as few casualties as possible and I'm thinking every minute of the lives that are being lost already.
its not like our governments don't have enough shit to deal with without all these morons who kid themselves they are helping the world by chaining themselves to the gates of parliament so the politicans can't get through ...
what shits me the most is that most of these morons are under the age of 21, college students whose minds are manipulated by their parents & lecturers ... the numbers of '1 million protesters' is made up of 5% who actually understand what they are marching for!
A quote from a lady on the tv "I think its bad george bush is killing so many people for the sake of getting 1 man".
DUH, like its that simple!!
Graffiti on the wall around the corner says "Fuck ya Dubya, free trade kills every day"
HUH?!??!!? What was this person thinking writing that shit on a main street where children walk home from school every single day?!?
There are some of these people who actually have something valid to say, and who attempt to comprehend the complexity of this situation while still maintaining that we didn't need a war, so its a shame that their VALID message is lost because of the millions of morons who just want to say 'they dun somefin good for da innucent people'
wtf gives these people the right to deface our pavements with chalk, to paint our walls with spraypaint and to act violently against those who are trying to maintain the peace on our own streets?! What is that supposed to achieve?!?!
i hope this is all over soon.

its interesting that some peoples idea of "freedom" does not include those who dont agree with their opinions, or express themselves in a lawfull manner, protected by the Constitution.
where does it say that "being American means you must support any and every action of America, regardless of your opinion of it being right or wrong"?
you summed it up well jr!
being american and living in america is the very thing that allows that stupid women to stand there and say "I'm not proud to be an American"

I was just watching the news, there was this lady in a protest against
the war saying, "I am usually proud to be an american but today, Im not."
Is this how these cockholsters see freedom as an american, a convienience?
How fucking pathetic!!!!!!!!!!
Bring back the draft and start with protesters, Give them a taste of reality.
its interesting that some peoples idea of "freedom" does not include those who dont agree with their opinions, or express themselves in a lawfull manner, protected by the Constitution.
where does it say that "being American means you must support any and every action of America, regardless of your opinion of it being right or wrong"?[/b][/quote]
People can have whatever view they want as americans, it is indeed their RIGHT.
But Im going to express my opinion as well.
