View Full Version : Epoch Party in New Orleans

Hey this is Keith with Epoch, for the past few years we have gone to New Orleans for Jazzfest and had “Epoch fest”. We get Mom’s and the fam out there cooking, and basically if you know me, I don’t look like I’ve ever suffered from a “missed meal” painJ. This year we decided we should invite everyone that wants to come, besides we need more people to carry the wounded. Every time you enter the New Orleans city limits its battle and, yes, there will be casualties (I sound like the George Bush of partying). It’s Mardi Gras with a bit of sophistication (being a New Orleans native there is no such thing as sophistication, but we use it to distinguish between the two seasons).
If you are in the area, or just said “fuck it I ain’t got shit else to do that weekend” go to www.epochsystems.com/cookout We have the whole thing setup to keep cost down and keep the focus on the important stuff, alcohol, good bands, and the best food on the planet.

Laissez bon temps roulee

No, no, Michaels office is on the West Bank, I don't think he goes across the bridge to visit his other offices unless there's a meeting at Ricks ;)

Yep, Mike and the gang know how to treat people right. I went to jazz fest 4 or 5 years ago and it was definately worth it. The bonus is Billy's crawfish are hard to beat. :okthumb:

"Billy's crawfish"

that sounds like secret code for some fraternity initiation ritual... last time i let somebody convince me that the "good stuff" was just down the hall i almost ended up branded and definitely ended up puking ;-)

Mike you bet if we make it up that i'd love to come hang.

*modified for spelling things like a man with a good italian wine in hand

I've never been to France but I have got to think going to New Orleans is much better than going to France :groucho:
I have no desire to ever go to France but enjoy New Orelans :yowsa:

I spent a grand total of 2 hours of my life in France and 3 people surrendered to me at the airport. :D

I need to get back to New Orleans sometime this year. I love that town and the people in it.

I'm going to do my darnest to make it! I need to start making my "date" list now. I figure I'll start with at least 4, seeing how I tend to make them ill or tired in record numbers :awinky:

Any suggestions on inexpensive yet decent places to stay? The one on Epoch's website looked nice, but too much room and $$$ for us po' folks!

Peaches.. Ulfie would be a good pick : )

Hahahaha...

You might want to check on the Hotel that Keith listed, I think the prices are really good !

If not let me know and I will check on some prices, but I think Keith had a hook up : )

Yet another "pro" on the side of moving to Florida -- closer to N'awlins and these legendary HiRise/Oprano parties (and hubby's family, to boot!)

Gawd... a crawfish boil; I'm freakin' salivating over here just thinking about it. Ya bastards. :biglaugh:

Yeah, Ulfie can be Date #1 - tis why I need #'s 2-4 as back ups :nyanya:

That hotel was about $250 a night - is that about as good as I'm going to get for that weekend?

When's Dee due date? Isn't it around then??!! :zoinks:

Agreed - I loved Nawlins when we went for Cybernet a few years back. That was still the BEST show ever. Loved it! I think it was in May - the Internext one was poorly timed: bad weather, too many in-city events, remember the parties-turned-bad on Bourbon street? May is THE time to go. Wish I could make it. :(

Miss those Hurricane and Blue Crack daqueries - won't be able to make it down there for the Crawfish boil but please Peaches - have some of those drinks for me. :)

Somebody's GOT to plan a big show for Nawlins....I wanna go! *whines*

The last time I was there - back when Michael had the party at the indoor pool and Shok and I walked on some man watching TV - oops! - I was sick the whole time (no, it wasn't from being with Shok.....I don't think....wait a minute..... !!! :zoinks: ). I missed out a on LOT of stuff and a LOT of dinners, so I need to make it up :okthumb:

I'm not even sure I can pull this one off - but it's worth trying!

I stayed at the La Quinta near the French Quarter when I went down for the Steeler game last year. It was very nice and I think it was only around $79/night. Probably will be higher during jazz fest though. I stayed at a hotel in the same area when I was at the crawfish boil that was around $200/night. Didn't see much difference between the two. Not sure if I will make it down this year but I'm hoping to. It's a lot of fun and a bunch of good people to hang around with. :)

Actually the hotels on the west bank, the La Quinta and a Holiday Inn and a Quality Inn that or ok, and should not have a $$ because they are across the river.

Dee is due on May 17th.. Getting close !

Peaches - since you gave up info on your secret inexpensive hotel finder for Vegas I'll give up info on my secret inexpensive hotel finder for New Oreleans http://www.turbotrip.com/res/rfp/citysrch....ity=New+Orleans (http://www.turbotrip.com/res/rfp/citysrch.prosrch?p_agent=2009&c_city=New+Orleans)

Not as good as the one you had for Vegas but usually better rates than in most places - WARNING if you book through turbotrip call the Hotel after you book to make sure you have reservations

Also if you're not set on going to Jazz Fest and you arrive Sunday and stay a few days after it will be much less expensive, both hotel and airfare wise

On the Epoch party site is says their man Keith has got swing with the hotel for better rates

Wow! Even the "Behind Denny's" is $110 a night - might as well spend the extra $100 and get TWO TV's :awinky:

Thanks for the link, Vick - looking at the prices, it seems everything's $$$. If I can make it, I'll probably spend the extra few dollars and stay where everyone else is. I'm such a baby, I'd be miserable by myself!

Thanks, Michael - I might take you up on the "help with rooms" but I go out of my way not to stay at anyone's house. I'm a pig and I either have to be on my best behavior at your house, or tick you off :awinky: At a hotel, I can just tip the cleaning crew well :okthumb: I appreciate the offer, though!

I need some work though, so hire me, and then I can afford all the really expensive hotels in NOLA :nyanya:
