art vs porn..which is more of a con?

So, this 'art' might not even exist yet it is shortlisted for a prize. Porn that exists is bad but 'art' like this is culture. How do I become an artist?

I do not know why I often think of Hans Christian Andersen´s fairy tale "The Emperor’s New Suit", when seeing/hearing/talking about art....

"... The emperor marched in the procession under the beautiful canopy, and all who saw him in the street and out of the windows exclaimed: “Indeed, the emperor’s new suit is incomparable! Isn't this sort of like the bs artists who would post up empty canvases, and say it represented "blah blah" and was there to expand people's minds?

No more enlightening than the statue made out of cow shit a few years back, I guess.

The competition for which the work is shortlisted will take place next month and is designed to nurture young talent.

Yeppir, let's nurture the up and coming young artists by taking "NOTHING" and calling it ART.

My first degree is in Art..... Spent a lotta lotta time in class and in the studio producing... I have spent a lot of time since producing...

The so called "ARTS" community has always pissed me right the fuck off by taking tongue-in-cheek works (or supposed works) seriously.... I don't blame the Artists much, because it is the so called "Intellectuals" who place the importance on the piece, not the Artist.... If the intellectuals can't understand it, it must be art.....

Makes it very difficult for some serious artists to break in... They do good work, evoke many emotions, but unless some high muckey muck group pronounces it art, it never gets looked at.........

So, in answer to the topic "Art vs Porn, which is more of a con?"

Depends..... Sometimes the leadin to porn is a con... generally the actual porn isn't, you looked for porn, you found it.. No Con....

Sometimes Art is a con, sometimes it isn't.... But it is easier to spot a con in art... Just listen for the intellectuals going on with their myriad interpretations of "Red Spot On Canvas"....

Hehehe - you can't help but wonder if "art" like this is dreamt up as a way of taking the piss out of the art establishment :-))
