It's monday. My observations of adult webmaster boards has been that Saturday, Sunday and Monday are the three slowest days by far. I didn't do an actual scientific post count study (although I'd love to if I had the scripts to assist with it) but just from reading and participating on several of them, that is the way it appears to me.

In fact, some pretty busy boards come almost to a complete stop for the weekend. Monday's are slow I think because everyone is just getting back to work and catching up.

I haven't noticed if the weekend slowdown occurs as much on boards like GFY. That may be a little different since it is 99% goofballs and hardly any real business gets done there.

But for boards where actual business people post, not just kids and tgp posters, I see a definitive Saturday thru Monday slowdown.

Tuesday is usually when things begin to pick back up.

Anyone else noticed these patterns or any other interesting board behavior patterns?

I missed all the piss this weekend, don't know how but found out about it today when I was glancing at Ducks column on setgo.....

And I thought he had stopped reading Oprano......

But, by the time I got to reading all the threads, everybody had edited all their messages, so you could'nt see what the to-do was all about :(

I think we should turn the "edit" option off..... If you post something you would have to live with it and all the tumult it causes, rather than being allowed to go back and literally remove your words....

A slowdown over the weekend on boards generally is something I've noticed too, tho not just in the last few weeks. It seemed to start shortly after the events of Sept 11 when people suddenly realised there was more to life than work and that spending time with family and friends should be a priority.

Have to say tho, that this phenomenon is far less apparent on Oprano than on most other boards. This is one of the few boards that still seems to maintain a reasonable level of activity most weekends, and on some weekends (depending on the topics under discussion), Oprano still flies. :)

Dianna, if the pace is slowing down at oprano (it always seems this way when you aren't involved in the discussions regularly), why would you want to start a new board?

Serge beat me to it...Pearl! We were saying this a couple of years ago. There were a half dozen or so major boards online and then all of a sudden over night they were popping up like 7-11s! The last time I updated resource listings I was taking OFF as many fly-by-night here-today-gone-tomorrow resource boards as I was adding ON. Apparently it's still the cool new thing to do.

Personally - give me a small handful of places to post - and lots of other places to learn, read and be edumacated and I'm happy. But geez folks - let's not split hairs and segregate the industry any more than it already is. I already have to hit 10-12 boards daily to read all the people I want to read and to reach all the people I need to reach!

BTW - this is the reason for my decision to make the Klixxx boards an article feedback forum area and NOT a community chat board. It's not meant to be a chat board for daily posts - it's supposed to be for discussion of the issues explored in the articles and tutorials we present to our readers. That's it. Hopefully over time it will develop into a good place for the writers to receive feedback on their work - and for webmasters to ask additional questions that they thought of while reading the articles.
