Loved it! :bjump:

Also to Lance - I liked Requiem for a Dream - didn't LOVE it, but it was certainly a well done flick. It should be a "must see" for every HS health class :zoinks:

Any other off the beaten path recommendations?

Peaches,

I have one, it's subtitled in Spanish but it's a great movie.

It's called The Devil's Backbone.

Pretty good flick.

Thanks, Ant - put it on my Netflix list! :)

Amelie is also cute and clever!

You know talking about offbeat, I also liked Donnie Darko, it was slow in some parts, but it all came together.

Really thought provoking type of movie.

Thank goodness I had it on DVD - I went back and watched the last scene three times just to get it all, lol! :bjump: One tiny part I suspected, but that was all. Very cool!

Peaches...I am glad you enjoyed Nine Queens!

My next suggestion (if you're into a bit of low budget fun) is El Mariachi. It is a Spanish film...done by Robert Rodriguez, ...it was produced with a mere $7000 budget.

He later did the bigger budget follow-up Desperado, which you might have seen with Antonio Banderas and Selma Hyak.

El Mariachi is so much fun....I HIGHLY recommend it... And...after the credits are over, stick around for the short that follows, BedHead, which Rodriguez used his own children in....a little encore worth watching.

Congratulations, you are Gretchen Ross. You are very perceptive of the world around you. You are a good person with strong morals. Although your life hasn't been exactly the way you would like it, you still think the world is beautiful. Good for you.

It's too true to the truth. hahahahahahahaha.

Got a little panicky - El Mariachi wasn't showing up on Netflix :( But I did a search by the director and it and Desperado on the same disc - Bonus! :rokk:

Many thanks! B)

Peaches: You'll enoy them both! Let me know what you think.

Robert Rodriguez was also a director in Four Rooms....another quirky fun movie I really enjoyed.

ooh, ooh Peaches...I've got a HUGE list of "off the beaten path" movies i'd love to suggest. i'll start with a couple of my favorites:

The Boondock Saints (Small budget, independent film starring Willem Dafoe, Ryan Patrick Flannery, Norman Reedus).

Run Lola Run (Foreign flick, in "real time", this movie will change the way you view movies from now on)

by the way, El Mariachi is a good choice ;)

Hit me up if you want some more ideas :)

I've got to say that NetFlix has been an awesome program to work with. We've seen movies that we haven't seen in years - been able to get new releases that I now fortunately don't have to spend the $$$ on buying - AND I cut up my Blockbuster card - those guys were getting too much profit off of all my late fees.

Now I can be a forgetful DVD-renter, NOT pay late fees, search for new movies online, never leave my house AND save $$$. NetFlix rocks! :)

Thanks for posting all of these off-beat titles...we love watching foreign and Indie films. Always a great surprise! As soon as Peaches lets them go from NetFlix, we're on the list! lol
