I am working on some new sites, and on my back ends... ( my members area, not my fat ass! :P ) What is the cutting edge now? What is making the members happiest, what are they looking at the most? What are they demanding?
I heard that video is what gets them in - conversions - yet the standard still photos are still the number 1 thing they look at.

I hate to link out to another board but just a few days ago I started a whole thread on GFY about innovative members area content. There were some ok ideas put forth. I'm not sure about the rules on linking to another board but it's thread #105178 over there.
Cheers,
Brad
Pay them to look at your site and they'll stay.
Actually from what I've seen in server logs etc photos are not really it, unless you can present them in a manner the surfer isn't expecting. The more video content you have the longer they seem to stay.
I dunno if all sites work like this, but an awful lot of the ones I've been sifting thru lately seem to indicate it.

Create a fake webmaster/webmistress personality inside your members areas. The best retaining sites that I know are run by personable people who have a 'real' presence in their members areas. Even if it's fiction, your users might feel more connected if your personality talks to them daily and relates their life or website story.

Tired of getting fuck on trials? Don't offer trials. If you do, offer trial members 10 pics until they convert to full.

No trial that exits to trial option has been working for us.
We are working on getting the "scaled down" trial members area up

Build a sense of cummunity in your members area. If a member feels they belong, they stay forever. Get them interacting with each other. Games rooms, contests, discussions, voting, etc....
Mike AI! With your amateur background you know how amateur sites keep members. Why not bring that sense of community amateurs use to keep members to regular non amateur paysites?
Just my 2 cents.

Hi,
We don't design a ton of members areas, as most companies do there own, and it's a hassle to do big ones. We mostly do members area templates. what I have seen lately is more and more videos, feeds, etc. lots of pics also, but alot more videos and plugins.
plug and play website :)

Lens are you doing the 2 tier membership site now? 1 for trial which is limited access, then once they convert to a full member they get everything?
Is this difficult to set up? It is a good idea... we used to do it with AVSs - give a sample away with AVS then charge for membership for full access.
Brad - I like your idea of personality, obvioulsy running amatuer sites, we do understand making things PERSONAL is important!
Good imput guys and gals!!
Oh and Brad, we do not mind linking directly ot threads on other boards... its no big deal.

Personality and exclusive content. Lot's of both.
In the begining we just shot pictures and video with little interaction, now with all our sites we try to bring more interaction between us and the models. That is how www.onetwistedpair.com developed, we brought more of ourselves into the content, otherwise, it is just another porn site. We are also working on making more of a community, things like contests where members and affilates can come hang-out at our shoots, etc.
Having stuff members cannot get anywhere else helps as well. Also, string out the updates, when we add a new girls, it takes at least a few weeks before all of her content is up. We also are impletementing a list of future updates, so they can see what is comming up.
It doesn't hurt to add in lots of video plug-in either, it is just more to keep them busy.

Howdy folks,
New spammer on the premises.
To bad vids are such a pain the work with and craves much server capacity:blink:
But otherwise i aim to have both pics and vids of the girls...
Seems the potential for improvement is greater in the vids ....

Mike,
Your paysite members want Homegrown Content.
Plain and simple.
We are about to launch a bunch of niche products so you can cherry pick the "Non-ugly amateur girls".
That is all I have to add.

Moffit, I would love to add your content - but you keep confusing me with other webmasters who are rich.... :D B)
I have to watch every dollar ....

Exclusive content is a must - and that goes for everything from pics to movies and stories.
Think about some exclusive stories written as serials and pictorial stories built around the models that appear on your site. They don't come cheap but they are available.+

I think the canned streaming videos are getting old..
I think the 'reality' (c0f) sites are in the right line like Nasty Dollars sites.. See girls you like, picture sets and downloadable videos of each encounter..
It's like a candy store - literally. They lay out the candy so you can see each individual kind and you buy that kind.
My opinion is there's too much emphasis on quantity in this business.. People banging out 80 sites in niche's they don't even understand just to keep up with the Joneses.
If anyone wants to start a GOOD paysite (I provide the ideas, you do everything else) gimme 1% of every dollar made and we'll do business :gbounce:
I've totally changed my thinking about the net.. Instead of chasing dollars I'm doing like a REAL musician would and just do it like you like it.
What do YOU like? What about that aren't you seeing? Bam, new pay site :)

original content
Niche hardcore video feeds which updates daily/weekly/monthly with high quality video and high bandwidth streams - thats our #1 content in the member areas...
Worst content in our member areas are games, audio, toons and e-zines (well thats according to our stats).
