The story has been too widely-published to be untrue. That being said, there is one thing which casts serious doubt on the veracity of the guard's story...
"Do you have the document that Saddam signed?
It’s in Baghdad. I can bring it in a week along with pictures that show how close I was to him. Those are pictures I got from him. I’ll give them to you. Because of my position, I could go anywhere in Iraq and no one would ask any questions. I used cars marked with his seal. I could get into any palace; few people could. I was very proud that my president treated me that way. "
If he is so afraid, why would he even THINK about going to Baghdad to retrieve the document?
He could be a Hussein plant to dispense false information...
Another thing...
If the guard actually exists (and, again, I could believe that he does), why hasn't this story aired on NBC, ABC, CBS, or CNN? Could it be their Anti-American bias?

The American News Networks suck ass.... I learn more about this country from the English press then the US.
Thank goodness for the Internet, allows people to look for information and news rather then relying upon being force fed garabge from the networks.

Mike, you can learn alot watching BBC news channel, as well as Newsworld (CBC) from Canada... it is often startling to hear the difference in the story from the US and other places.
US news is alot more of opinion now, and alot less of actual news. It is as if people want to newspeople to do their thinking for them, and present them with a few "potentials" rather than thinking about it themselves. 24 hour news channels stuck to fill time have really turned into opinionated talking head time, which really does suck. I use to watch CNN a fair bit, now I almost never spend more than 10 minutes there to get a story and I'm done.
I probably will only tune back in when the bombs start dropping... even then...
