Zipa, LLC Buys Enron's New Orleans Datacenter
Wednesday January 29, 6:45 pm ET

NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- New Orleans Internet services company Zipa, LLC recently purchased a tier 1 datacenter in downtown New Orleans from Enron Broadband Services, Inc.
The 6,600-square-foot facility offers carrier class features for Internet connectivity, climate control, fire suppression, power backup and much more.

The first-rate facility was purchased through a bankruptcy sale and is being further updated by Zipa to offer better accommodations for companies seeking commercial Internet hosting and collocation, as well as other Internet and telecommunications services.

Zipa is seeking to make the facility one of the premier collocation and commercial hosting options in the South, while also building one of the largest private peering points in the region.

Zipa already has acquired several large Internet carriers and companies as its first clients. With the assistance and expertise of its sister company and collo client, Intercosmos Media Group, Inc., Zipa foresees many opportunities in the high-end hosting industry in the years to come.

For information on Zipa, LLC or its services, email info@zipa.com or call Sigmund Solares at (504) 679-5170, ext. 106.

We are very excited about all the possibilities.... Of course all the credit goes to Sig, Noah, and the staff of InterCosmos. This deal took over a year to put together and finalize.

Voodoo, Dan, Turner thanks for the support!

If we can have the success we have had with DirectNIC, we will be in great shape.

We should have some very competative hosting services set up very soon.

We migrated all of DirectNIC's servers ( over 140) the past 2 weeks. It was a major undertaking, down flawlessly...
Of course all I did was just walk around the Datacenter checking it out. It is very impressive....

Anyone who bad talks Enron will have me fighting them! hahaha

Thanks Enron!!

HAHA thanks Mutt... But I will be first to smit those guys carry me, and I am not that light! Obviously Fold knows - but he knows Sig from the old days!

T - I already a mworking on other business plans if datacenter does not work out, it would be a great place to raise cold chicken, get some coops.. I hear chickens put out more eggs when cold!

Seriously I am just happy to have a place for when a hurricaine heads this way I can go to. With all teh battery back up, and the huge diseal generator and being on 10th floor - its going to be a safe place - WITH lots of bandwidth - so no matter how bad storm is, I will still be able to surf Oprano and porn! :D

Thanks for all the comments!!!

Good luck with it. If you're going to get into the hosting biz, I definitely think owning your own data center is the way to go. And right now it's a buyer's market. Should be a very nice fit with Directnic and your other ventures.

You didn't TOUCH anything, did you Billy??!! :zoinks:

I have some sort of electrical aura that screws things up which became a hindrance when I worked in the switches of MCI, Sprint, Telesphere and the 900 biz :( Though the techs realized that if they could get something to work around me, it was ready for general use :okthumb:

I was not going to mention it.. and I am sure Mike would not.. but have you seen the movie the bubble boy ?? Well that is what them made me dress up like, to ensure I did not touch anthing for my vibes did not get into the air, I don't think they trust me : (

I just learned 2 hours ago that one of the hosting conglomerates with Data Center about 8 times bigger than Enron's and who is losing aprox $300,000 a month is moving into adult hosting,
just to relieve the burden of 3.5 mln yearly loss.

They don't care how cheap they sell the bandwidth,
as long as $$ influx helps them to fill the red hole.

Should be very interesting when this bandwidth supply reaches the shores....

Serge what mainstream hosting company refused porn business?

I have hosted with many companies, including many large public companies. No one ever refused my business due to porn.

The main issue I left these companies and went to someone who specilizes in adult is for the service.... at the time these big companies did not know the special needs we had.

Competition is good, bandwidth is a commodity.... One can always look and find a cheaper BW price.... cannot be successful by underselling.

They contacted me via
http://cotac.com/web/ for the full blown adult market ad campagne.
But...I am no longer giving free advices,
when and if they sign up with COTAC,
I have the solution for them to overcome the obstacles you mentioned.

Untill than....it's all yadda-yadaa-yadda...times when I was racking my brains for free are gone.

you forgot to mention Top of the Line Watch repairs/refurbishing to the High Net Worth Individuals by the ONLY Heavy Metal Guitarist in the World, Daniel Spitz, who happens to have a Direct Personal Acount with Rolex to obtain all parts necessary to repair their ENTIRE LINE of time pieces.

I love my new "learning on the jopb" expereince....

Really? Katie's Rolex has been running slow.... should I send it to you?

Actually its under warranty, I will bring it to the people I bought it from.

Secret to having Rolex's run well, is to never take them off. The more they run the better they operate.

Don't they still run when they're not being worn? :awinky:

I had one for 3 months when I was married and it spent 2 months in the store being worked on. My ex got his money back for it and bought me a boat. I liked the boat a lot more :cdance:
