When driving down the "Driveway of Death", with regular tires, in the snow, while in 4WL, all 4 tires will slide at the same time and at the same angle! :) My neighbor (the GOOD one - the psycho doesn't live on the street - she just owns the property that the GOOD one and I are trying to buy) called me and said I took several years off his life while he watched me :rokk:
Going UP the hill: Easy - was in 4WH with no problem.
DOWN the hill: Not so Easy - will leave the car up there next time.

hehehehe, that driveway is frightening enough in GOOD weather lol, I'd park on the street and walk up in the snow LOL

It sounds like you've got a driveway similar to mine.
Out of curiosity, how do you get your mail?
We have our most interested times in snow just getting the mail.
I've seen these cool grabby shoecover things but haven't bought them because I don't know how small, medium or large relate to our feet.

It was one of those "Ya know, this is where I live, I have 4WD, I have AAA, I have to at least TRY it!" :yowsa:
I guess it would be wrong of me to admit it was fun........:groucho:

Our mail box is about a mile away at the front gate of the subdivision :(
Here's the top 1/2 looking down to the house:

Here it looking up from the house with snow on it (which honestly doesn't do it justice - nothing does until you're ON it......):

There are a couple of old logging trails where you can avoid it completely and get to the road by foot - just not by car. You go a bit out of the way, but at least you get up the mountain :okthumb:

Wow, that's gorgeous!
I can see where the part above the "S" would be a major problem.
Great space you've got Peaches, life endangering or not :groucho:

Peaches, when I lived in JacksonHole WY, I lived atop a hill much
like that.
I bought a snowmobile and left my truck at the bottom during the winter.
Maybe you should buy a snowmobile.

For the 2 snows a year, that last maybe 2 days each (the one this morning was gone by 1PM), that MAY be just a wee bit of overkill :awinky:
But if I get my million acres out west, I'll need one for sure!! :bjump:

In this case, just pump your brakes.

My ex's uncle up in Maine has a driveway like that, but they get a little more than two snows a year. Where he's at they get 50+ more inches than Buffalo usually does. They did the snowmobile thing too.

Peaches you need chains on the tires, or get a ATV to pick up mail or something.

You southerners are funny. We got 6 inches of snow in the last 3 hours and could get up to 18 inches tonight. Just came back from the store and the old front wheel drive Accord didn't have any problems making it home. :nyanya:

Michael, I can go w/o a mail for a few days a couple of times a year. Heck, even when the weather's fine, I only check it a few times a week ;)
Ulfie - I got my sister's little FWD 1990 4Cyl Camry up my hill in the pouring rain - twice. It wasn't happy, but it made it. My son's 1990 6Cyl Maxima made it up all the time - better than the truck does! He DID finally burn out the transmission, but it also had 206K miles on it :) Those Japanese FWD cars are GREAT :okthumb:
Running late to Super Bowl parties - that IS why they have this thing every year, isn't it? :cdance:

Coming from Alaska I always think its funny when they have chain requirements up at Lake Tahoe. Fucking pussies :) I don't think I've ever SEEN chains on tires in AK except maybe on a Fedex truck.

Miss Eve,
I always thought the reason you didn't have tire chains up there was because you could always have one of those Polar Bears pull you out of any trouble you got into?

I agree- for a few days a year it's not worth it. Having left upstate ny after living there 5 years, you're helpless without the right foul weather gear.
After going up to get the rest of my stuff and freezing my ass off I decided I'm VERY happy to have left.

I have a few dogs that do all that an more except they eat too much and I can't keep them from scratching their balls at the dinner table.
