View Full Version : Favorite Tv Show?
I usually don't start threads like this....but....it's Saturday night, I'm pregnant, sober, sitting at home, and bored so.... :moon:
Hello, my name is GiGi and I'm a Xena: Warrior Princess freak. Okay, I admit it...that show rocked! (I know some will beg to differ but....lol)
I could probably count on one hand how many episodes I've missed in the 6 season stretch of the show. I have the whole first 2 seasons on tape. There were a few episodes I could have done without, but overall I loved every minute of it.
I fell in love with Xena during her debut on "Hercules". The episode was called 'The Gauntlet'....still one of my favorite. She did 3 episodes of Herc and then was given her own show.
When the show (Xena) finally ended, (and yes, Xena actually dies! Beheaded...it was pretty gross...hehe) I was devastated. It was the ONLY show I ever looked forward to watching and blocked into my schedule every week.
My favorite villains were Callisto (Hudson Leick), and Ares (Kevin Smith). Kevin Smith died in February '02 on a set in China where he was making a film. :cryin: They always take the sexy ones first... :awinky:
Herc and Xena both ended around the same time. They had an auction in Auckland, NewZealand (where the filming took place) and auctioned off all of the set props.
Many items ended up on Ebay of course and I ended up buy several items including a skull spear-head, a 'falcon head' helmut, chinese medicine balls, a ram skull, the scripts to the 3 Herc episodes with Xena, and a full amazon costume worn in Episode 15 by a character named 'Maggie'. The things that porn $$ can buy.... ;)
Okay...so is anyone as much of a junkie for their favorite show as I am with mine?? Admit it...I know there's some of you out there.... :groucho:

I used to have a favorite show, (24) but then the damn jackasses
at the network keep deciding to put it on hiatus.
Other than that, I enjoy all these shows.
3-4-Weakest Link
4-5-Oprano
5-5:30-Friends
5:30-6-Everybody Loves Raymond
6-6:30-Tossup between Dharma and Greg and Oprano
7:00-10-PrimeTime(whatever is on that night)
10-10:30-Frasier
10:30-11-Friends
11-11:30-the Hughleys
Thats it.

NYPD Blue ... I've been a sucker for that kind of show since Hill Street Blues (and Dennis Franz played a crooked cop on that show). At varying times I've been addicted to (in addition to the above) St. Elsewhere, ER, LA Law and Law and Order. The only odd thing about NYPD Blue is that it's on ABC; the rest have all been NBC shows.
Junk food for the brain, I guess ...

I'm pretty sure I might be able to find a chakram for ya, Gigi, either in our storage or in one of our other propmaker friends' garages; if you're interested, email me your snail mail addy and I'll get it out to you when I get my hands on it.
Meanwhile, if you're that big a fan, you simply must see the 3D webisodes! The actual site's no longer up, but here's a link to the page I used to use to test the content:
http://www2.warnerbros.com/content/multipath/xena.html
It does require downloading the BDE Digital Projector -- but the WB version doesn't contain spyware like the KaZaA version, so if you have AdAware, ignore any warnings about it.
Kevin Smith was SOOOOO hot! I'd have followed him all the way to the Underworld... such a tragic loss.
I also loved Bruce Campbell as Autolycus... Both the Herc and Xena shows played fast and loose with Greek Mythology, but they were such fun! Lots of people talked shit about how horrible they were, but I'll take Herc & Xena over the current crop (crap) of "reality" trash any freakin' day!!!!
Oh! And my addictive shows are "Sopranos" and "Six Feet Under." :okthumb:
Oh yeah! And I saw Hudson Leick on "Fastlane" last night...
Playing a villainess, of course. :wnw:

Is Natasha Henstridge the hottest girl on earth, or is it just me?
Anyone watch SheSpies?
haha, its not a very good show, I just watch it for the chics.

OMG Grrl!!! you rock!!!! You've got mail. ;)
Checking out the 3D Webisode now...hehe
I agree about Kevin Smith....I was heartbroken when I found out. He was soooo talented....it's definitely a huge loss. :cryin:
Bruce Campbell is another AWESOME actor! The rapor between his character Autolycus and Xena was amazing. They should do more work together.
Anyone care to join me in April?

So many of you watch The Soprano's....I have never caught an entire episode. Is it true I should watch it from the beginning? That's sort of why I haven't watched it yet....I feel like I'd be lost.
Damn! I'm 5 days too late to book the cruise....booohoooo :P

What's 'Fastlane'? Was it a movie? or a TV show? I'd love to see Hudson acting elsewhere.....she is an awesome actress....when you can get people to hate your character that much...you've got to be goooooood. And she's a little hottie too. ;)
My favorite scene with her is when she eats the ambrosia, camera is behind her....she turns her head....her eyes turned light light blue...and, with a big grin, she says 'Here comes trouble!'....haha....that scene is burned into my brain....where it will remain...forever. :yowsa:

She Spies is on after SNL now, replacing Cheaters! I'm very upset, lol, I really can't get enough of Tommy Grand on Cheaters.

NYPD Blue
Law and Order (all)
CSI (both)
Booomtown
West Wing
Seinfeld
Simpsons (one of the few shows I watch over and over and still catch subtle "hidden" jokes)
Chicago Hope
ER (the old ones - new ones aren't as good)
PBS's Frontier House (my fav of their "reality series")

I could probably come up with more - I'm an entertainment whore - books, movies, TV, plays - I don't do "nothing" very well - boredom leads me to this damn computer :okthumb:
OT: We had about an inch of snow overnight and it almost covered the lake - very cool looking - on my way down there now :cdance:

I don't get much US Television, just bought a Dish Network system, just waiting to find someone to let them install it in San Diego before I haul it down here and install it. Mexican satellite sucks!
I'm not much for TV, I actually didn't have one for years when I lived alone and still don't have one in my bedroom or living room, I put in a TV room for daddy-o and watch with him since men like warm bodies in the room with them when they watch TV, R-n knows why!
Anyway, from what I've seen here or in hotels in the US or bought on DVD, here's my list:
West Wing
Law and Order (all of them)
Early Will and Grace
Oz
Sex and the City
24 (only bought on DVD so no hiatus problems)
Biography
Inside the Actors' Studio
Old ER's
Haven't caught West Wing in a while, but I am looking forward to getting it on DVD when it comes out. That is by far my favorite show in years.
Since TV has sucked for so many years here, I own about 250 DVD's.so we mostly watch movies or TV series bought on DVD.
I could never get into the Sopranos either, don't know why.

A ton of the political shows on Fox, CNN, MSNBC.

Ack! I've been meaning to watch that :( How is it? As good as you thought it would be?
Another good one, that I thought would be REALLY bad until a friend told me about it: Gilmore Girls. The writing's very quick and one of the actors in it was, per Elaine on Seinfeld, "Sponge Worthy" - and I strongly agree :rokk:
Peaches - it is very good
It gives a behind the scenes look at how the Varekai show was put together ......
and it is incredible how hard the performers work and how driven and motivated the entire Cirque company is
There is conflict but not the usual reality show type
Mondays@ 9:00 EST on Bravo

I watch ALL the A&E shows you list here....I'm hooked. I was thinking just the other day what it is that draws me to such shows...brutal murders, mysteries....lol...but, I just can't stop myself.
When my friend was doing her Bachelors in Criminology, she had required reading of a book called 'Mass Murderers'. She couldn't get herself to read it so she got me to read it and make notes for her...lol....I was enthrawled....:P
And Kink is a VERY kewl show...I catch it whenever I can.

LOL I am not sure what it is myself, since a very young age I was enthralled with serial murderers and have read at least 1 book pertaining to each of them. I wanted to be a Behavioural Scientist for years, I took some legal lectures and that's about as far as that went.
There is something dark and intriguing about the human mind that I just can't get over.
As for Kink, there should be some new episodes coming out soon. A guy named Robin Black and his dominatrix girlfriend from Toronto are going to be in them. He is in a band called Robin Black and the Intergalactic Rockstars...Kind of a glam metal band based here in Toronto...The episodes should be pretty entertaining! :rokk:

Yup. Her name is Majel Barrett. Besides playing Luxwanna Troi, she is also the computer voice as well as a few other roles as she is the only person to have appeared in every Star Trek series.

Am I the only one strung out on The Shield?
So far in it's first two seasons it has really replaced The Sopranos as my favorite show. Sopranos have mellowed and focus on relationships while The Shield has that intensity that the Sopranos used to have.

I dont think you'll be lost. They bring you up to speed with the current stories at the beginning of each episode.
However, it's definitely worth watching the first season on DVD to understand who all of the characters are and what the relationships are.
Chilkis deserved every award he won for the first season. I haven't seen him in anything else, but he did an excellent job and his character is largely what hooked me.
