Okay, Colin is craving action....soooooo

I'm a leftie. Have been my whole life. Who else here is in this elite club? And I really do mean elite. Only 8 - 10% of the world's population are Southpaws.

Here's an interesting (and very true) article I found on lefties:
http://www.kstatecollegian.com/stories/100...ingsworth.shtml (http://www.kstatecollegian.com/stories/100201/opi_killingsworth.shtml)

Famous lefties?
http://www.indiana.edu/~primate/left.html
From US Presidents to actors and writers to athletes.

Now, when I had my first child I wasn't sure if he was going to take on my left-handedness. I bought a book called 'The Left-Handed Kids Book' or some such. I can't find it in my bookshelves right now, but the idea of the book was to make leftie kids more comfortable and proud of their 'leftness'.

It states that the percentage of lefties in high profile jobs way surpass the 8 - 10% they represent in the world population.

Example: Astronauts. Apparently the percentage of left-handed astronauts is quite large.

Also, is it true that lefties are more creative, emotional, and caring?

What do you think?

Yup yup...I see some lefties are like me....some things left, some right.

I write and eat with my left. [although I am comfortable eating right too if I have to] Pretty much everything else I do right including batting, throwing, hockey, golf etc.

I boiled it down to anything that requires intricate detail I use my left and anything that requires muscle I use my right.

Except for scissors. I HATED when my teachers forced me to use the left-handed scissors....I definitely use my right for that.

So, do you think being left-handed and being more 'right-brained' contributes to a more creative and emotional personality??

:bwave: [the left-handed wave...hehe]

Yay! I am not the only one that goes both ways with ease :nyanya:

the only part about being ambidextrous that sucks, is that the other hand does not feel like some one else :D

My son is left handed, but even though it's supposedly inherited, no one on either side of the family for 5-6 generations is left handed. :zoinks:

However, while he writes and eats with his left hand, he bats and golfs right. He throws with his left, but plays right handed in hockey.

He's also left footed - something we found out when he started playing soccer B)

I'm ambidextrous too...I write right handed, but can also write left handed if I'm on the phone or something

As a kid, I played baseball and was a switchhitter and could throw both right or left handed...my dad tried to groom me into a switch pitcher, but I always preferred first base (and playing it left handed). If I was in the outfield, I played right handed, I can throw further right handed but more accurate left handed. I played hockey left handed and golf right handed (but I really suck at golf, so maybe should switch to leftie)
When I bowl, I bowl right handed but can bowl competently left handed (comes in handy when I'm coaching and am coaching a lefty).

Fuck, I look at the salaries even mediocre lefthanded pitchers are making in baseball and am pissed at myself that I didn't pursue that switch pitching career....
