Dianna,

Interesting notes there, but Bill Clinton was never a felon. He was never found guilty or put on trial for anything to do with the draft, etc.

Of course President Carter did take care of everyone who left to Canada or Doged the draft.

I really don't know or care. lol- I just thought it was interesting and wanted to pass it along to all you clinton fans.

I personally like the guy as president. I'm not crazy about some of the things he did.

I'm not a Bush fan.

I don't really think you need to consult a vet(erinarian) to conclude that this horse is very fucking dead

hehe.... PD is pretty edgy these days. dont blame you guys. total minority in government. Bush is sucking your will to live and wiping his ass with print outs of whats on your hard drive while he reads your e-mails and blatantly pushes war in Iraq and to date, has not shown much justification for it (after the newest UN Resolution)... BUT

the thing with Frist saving the lives of people in a car accident on the freeway, then leaving before anyone could thank him, was a pretty powerful story. brought tears to my eyes. what a great few first days for the new Republican majority leader. you could not buy beautiful publicity like that.

If you want to take that as some kind of defense of Clinton, feel free. The fact of the matter is I don't consider Clinton's course of action back then any less (or more) honorable than that of a weekend warrior* with an influential daddy. There are tens of thousands of men in their 50s who committed the same technical "violations" cited in the letter Diana for whatever reason she posted it. The only prosecutions that took place where people who pushed it, and they were few and far between. The ONLY two types of men from that era that I personally admire are the ones who loved their country and followed their beliefs - the ones that went and fought, and the ones that went to jail (who were NOT pardoned by Carter, btw).

Just seems to me that former President Clinton's military/draft record lacks anything remotely resembling relevance to anything today. It plays well to a certain element - they frankly remind me of Democrats in the 70s who couldn't quit bashing Nixon - but, to borrow a phrase from the Jefferson Airplane, doesn't mean shit to a tree.

Edgy today? Perhaps ... but it might have more to do with a phonecall we got from a Marine at Pendleton than the transitory popularity of a President named Bush. And I am far more troubled by the whole situation with N. Korea than I am over Iraq.

PD, i dont think it has relevance to anything today either. i think North Korea will take care of itself considering the pressure being applied from everyone. Japan, Russia, South Korea and China are all against what they are doing.... and North Korea has already ran out of friends, influence and free US Government cheese (but i hear the "cheese for nukes" program will still continue).

Aside from Bill Clinton and Joe McCarthy, who else illegally ran for public office and was elected?

Have your girls shave then ;-)

I have a very dim view of anyone who was a draft doger and anyone who went to jail for not serving their country when called upon to do so
If Elvis could serve his country so can everyone when called upon

The fact that cassius clay was hailed as a hero in this country after being convicted for draft evasion make me fucking ill!!!

If you are an American, you serve your country when called upon to do so
No if's and or buts and no bullshit
If you don't want to, go somewhere else AND STAY THERE

No pussy Jimmy Carter pardoned Draft Dogers coming back to the greatest country in the world bullshit when they didn't uphold the honor and pleasure and responsibility to serve your country when called upon - keep your candy asses in Canada where you ran to

No bleeding hearts need reply!! :P

It's a pity that the greatest country in the world treats their veterans like shit...
I had the pleasure of accompanying my father-in-law (who's slowly dying from complications from the Agent Orange dumped on him by his own country during the Vietnam War) to a VA hospital...what a despicable fucking disgrace...When I vistied the hospital and saw the substandard conditions, the poor medical attention and the general mistreatment of the vets there, I felt ashamed to be an American...

I get so sick and tired of all these Congressmen talking about military might this and milatary power that when a man who served his country has to sit in a puddle of his own piss because someone at the VA Hospital was too lazy to help him out of his wheelchair to take a fucking leak.

It was really eye opening to watch them fuck up my father-in-law's prescription THREE TIMES and give him medication that interacted with his own heart medication almost killed him. He served his country and what does he get for it? A long, slow death sentence....

The VA hospital here in Las Vegas had to be shut down due to construction defects and not to mention a lovely location in the heart of the ghetto...

If a politician wants my vote, they'd better do more than just pay lip service to the vets who defended this country, especially the disabled vets...not the guy who was a weekend warrior to get his college paid for or a low down payment on a home...but the motherfuckers out there on the frontlines who got fucked up by and for our country...

Vick, I agree that we lvie in the greatest country in the world, but we have a LONG way to go in taking care of those who served, especially the disabled ones.
