I thought he would be gone by sunday.
I know I couldn't take that much heat as he has been taking.
I think they will get Frist in there. I know my party will make big of this in 2004. Let's see if it does any good...

Notice the difference between Republicans and Democrats.
Clinton breaks the law, lies about it, and refuses to step down even goes through an impeachment trial.
Lott, says some stupid words, and eventually the heat gets up so high, Lott steps down so the party can move on.
I thank both Clinton and Lott!! Clinton for staying around and holding out thruogh all the turmoil - which has helped lead to a Bush Presidency and Republican Congress.
I thank Lott for stepping down, so in the new year the Republicans will not be hampered working on their agenda!

Hmm I think there are vast differences here:
1. Clinton - gets caught shagging an intern - threatening our country with - pregnancy and spilled semen
2. Lott - praises well known segregationist - threatening our country with increased racial antagonism at a time when that's the last thing we need
The main difference too is that most party people as well as most country stuck to Clinton as I remember while this administration was clearly prepared to chop its nose to save face :matey:

IronHorse you can beleive what you wish, I will will beleive what I wish...
But I know this.... Republicans are in the WhiteHouse and a majority in Senate, and House.
So whatever the reasoning... things are good.
So now we can cut off all school funding, throw old people on the street and off medicare, ruin social security, start a war just so a few oil barrons get rich, ruin the beautiful wildlfie in Alaska for same reason, continue to ruin the evnironment, increase size of ozone hole, cut down all remaining trees, continue to violate "right" of terrorsist "suspects" in Gutananamo, keep bullying the rest of the world, pissing off France, building stars wars so we start a nuclear war, pissing China off by not giving them the right to take back Tawain, cut taxs and help make the richest even more rich, and all the other fun stuff Republicans like to do!!

I don't know if Lott's remark is worse than adultery. How to compare racism vs. cheating on your wife? I'll have no part of either and certainly not suggest one is better than the other. No Thanks.
Lott vs. Clinton? Lott probably meant something racist by his remarks but we'll never be sure. "these problems" sounds awfully suspicious but some room for interpretretation. Clinton definitely cheated on his wife.

How about:
Clinton commits perjury and gets away with it.
Lott tries to flatter a 100-year-old man who might croak before the sentence is finished; and gets crucified for it.
There really IS a double standard...Byrd, "White (n-words)"...no reaction.
LBJ, "I'll have the (n-words) voting Democrat for the next 200 years..."...no reaction.

Ultimately it IS a matter of perception. Personally I felt nothing at Lott's remarks, it did not affect me at all or at least I didn't perceive that it did, I don't know Strom's position on immigrants of which I am one.
I think that was also Lott's downfall his inability to quickly recognize the damage he had done inadvertently. But many blacks say this was a line that couldn't be crossed back.
