Hey, wait a minute! We have the exact same user/pass on our reactivated account!

Of course, so do the other 15 emails I have that got the same spam :)

And I've found out my septic tank smells, I can E-publish and make a fortune, I can buy domains for 2 or 3 cents, and I can get a bigger penis. I keep signing up for that big penis thing, but so far, they haven't sent me anything...or anyone :cryin:

But you are special! You have managed to both signup for a site and opt in to a mailer without actually ever visiting the site!

Your a freakin' magician! :wnw: :wnw: :wnw:

I like to catch these guys out - I always signup for services using "servicename@mydomain.com". For example, I signed upto the popular newsgroup service "alibis" and used "alibis@mydomain.com" (domain mydomain.com for example only)

Since all emails @mydomain.com come to me, i can selectively block them one they're outta hand.

Anyway two months later I start getting all this spam to that account. Bingo, guess who's just sold there lists :(

Dan,

I have read many times that it costs money for ISPs to transmit spam. Any comments?

Hey I got the same one too. I've gotten a few from people who have told me that they saw my name on a board. I might take my email off and that sucks.

Then recently get this email:

To: info@nichecartel.com
Subject: meeting today
From: chris1@telnor.net
Date: Mon, 16 Dec 2002 18:16:50 -0500

5:30 pst in whorehouse. Please have a report ready on any updates you have planned for your section so when I call on you, it will save time.

Also will be discussing how to ftp your sites to the mirror so we can get these updates done.

Buzzard was kind of put on the spot, since his section was chosen as the first team project.

Also, anyone that knows how to put up an email discussion list on topics, your help would be appreciated.

The ezine will be postponed til january 1st, so you still have time to get stuff you want to do to marie.

My thought, rather than a paragraph about your section, why doesn't everyone who has a help section, do a tip of the week, something the readers can use. We'll talk more about it then.

cya there. Everyone that can make it, please do so, I know everyone is busy, but we had a great first month and need to keep the momentum going!

Thanks to everyone for their help.

************************************************** ******

DV: Now I'm thinking.. what the hell is this about and then I get another:

To: info@nichecartel.com
Subject: did it again
From: chris1@telnor.net
Date: Mon, 16 Dec 2002 18:20:18 -0500

To everyone who is not a mod, the email wasn't meant for you, so I apologize for the bother.

Now if all of you want to come to the #adultheadsup chat room at 6:30 for some cool music and
trivia, that's cool. We'll all be there and we can have some fun.

you can find the links and info at http://chat.adultheadsup.com

Again, sorry for spamming you my meeting details, but now you know we're trying hard to provide
you with great stuff at Adult Heads Up!

************************************************** ****

DV: I hate it when someone insults my intelligence. If this is some type of marketing attempt, it only pissed me off. Wouldn't it piss you off?

I don't mind creative marketing and sales. I'm use to spending hours deleting spam. I really do wonder how effective direct marketing is any more.

What I DO MIND is the stupid recorded sales calls at home. I hate being called on the phone to buy anything. Does anyone actually listen to those recordings?

During the election I got one from Janet Reno, Billy Carter, Jeb Bush, Bill Clinton.... It really pissed me off.

I don't much of the time. I give talent my cell phone or business calls. I'm looking to hire an assistant so I'll let her filter my email and answer the phone. I waste way to much time.

LOL me either if it's not a number I know on the caller id. I rarely check messages either to top it all off. ;)

And I love my delete key... as a matter of fact when I am working on my university diploma and looking for a low rate mortgage before I go out driving with my international license to use my special no credit needed credit cards, I often think of just how much I love the miracle of spam.

I use a program called
SpamKiller (http://www.mcafee.com/myapps/msk/default.asp) ... its got a complex filtering system which is something many don't have. you can filter based on complex combinations and not have to block out all messages with 'xxx' to get rid of porn spam

it also allows you to bulk send 'errors' to the spammers, which if you do it regularly, dramatically reduces the new spam you get from these same companies.

its also got a good viewing feature, similar to outlook, which allows you to browse the deleted email just in case it caught something you need.

Spam doesn't bother me at all...never has...

I have several accounts that I use to sign up for stuff...all my spam goes to those accounts. If someone can spam to my regular account, more power to them.

Personal Fact: The only thing I have ever purchased online are several airline tickets. I have never bought anything else. I think that is weird.

Fuck, what is it about people that "have a cause" that they will pursue such things with vigour and to the detriment of their own life? I'm (admittedly) way too self-centered for such things.

I know no problem with spam at all.

If I don't like it, I just hit delete. People take too much effort into black listing and screwing with ppl that send bulk email.

back in my early days, 95-97 we had 23 servers on 2 t-1 lines sending out alot of email, I mean to tell you, life was good:))

now I don't email at all, unless it's opt in. too many problems here in the usa.

most people with a "cause" has diplaced energy from not making stuff,

but I'm guilty of some spammin' now and then, always leave a real unsubscribe line though.

also, i assume everyone has outlook, it is real easy to set up "message rules' that can filter out most everything. no $$$ involved

I dislike telemarketers and physical junk mail coming to my home...but I don't see them stopping anytime soon.

...I literally got a telemarketing call on my cell phone trying to sell me a postal meter 2 minutes ago.....is nothing sacred.

If spam bothered me, I'd be suicidal by now! I get a kick out of some of them - yesterday I got one for cup you attach to your take out carton of fries that holds your ketchup, lol! The only time it ever bothers me is if I'm out of town on a dial up, or have to use dial up from the house. Usually then I just don't check my "webmaster" account since that's where most of it goes to. Downloading 500 emails a day on a 14.4 connection gets a little tedious

KK - I should be getting another mini-car spam later today. I empty my trash every day, so I don't have any of the old ones :(

What's amazed me is that I'm getting at least 1 email a day this season from every company I've ever ordered anything from on the internet! :zoinks:

My first online business was submitting URLs to search engines for people.

We needed clients and after writing letters to a bunch of local churches (Shouldn't God be online?) we realized we needed to look online for clients. No bites from the letters.

So we figured we'd email people and tell them about our great service. In those days, you could do lookups in AOL by name .. like "Brian" and out would pop a bunch of email addresses. So we wrote a program and obtained (my recollection is) 10 million AOL email addresses. This was 1996. Next we wrote a program that send these babies out but man, the server we were on must have really sucked because we crashed it. This was my local dialup ISP. They called my house within 30 minutes. I'm like "Answer the phone and say I'm out of town!" Then we wisened up and set up a better operation and sent out all the emails. We had a response within 24 hours.

First client: Adult (dirtyonline)
Second client: Adult.

The rest is history.

I know it is unbelievable DJ.

We currently have one guy on us who is more tenacious than Serge.

Currently we are in a legal wrangle where we hope to prove that Spews is very very bad.

They are untraceable etc.The best thing is when The board members of ISPs discover that some technician has subscribed them to Spews.

You can at least work with spam cop.
