Lakers respond to O'Neal's verbal attacks

ESPN.com news services

With the Lakers' struggles spilling over into mid-December, in the last week Shaquille O'Neal hasn't hidden the fact that he's fed up with some of his teammates' play.

According to reports Thursday, some Lakers are now openly wondering why O'Neal is deriding others' play when he has said nothing to them directly, and whether he feels any responsibility himself for the Lakers' 9-14 record or the nine losses they suffered when he wasn't on the court

Great to see the Lakers standing up to one of the biggest whiners and crybabies in the game today.

I am not a Laker fan, so watching them fall apart is fun.... however, I cannot help thinking that when it comes playoff time and they make it in, they will still be the #1 team in the league.

Yeah.. I hate to say it but they don't necessarily need the #1 seed to get to the Finals.

I'm a Utah Jazz fan myself- basketball the way it was meant to be played!! :rokk:

I'll be real surprised if the Lakers 4-peat. I think the drive and desire is gone, and there are some very hungry teams out there. It's time for a new champ. If they don't 4-peat, I figure there'll be some major shakeups in the Lakers roster next season.

I suspect Kobe & Shaq would like to establish seperate identities on seperate teams once the Lakers current reign ends.

TE luckily my Hornets beat the Jazz, even though they played like crap....

I hope the Lakers are sucking tonight as well, since the Hornets will be playing there.... on a nationally televised game on ESPN!
