aol is a fuck up. with their large number of members, customers, etc.... they have definitely gone the wrong road on the internet. They should have been the first in the market to offer dsl. The first to offer anything. With time warner behind them, they can be offering so much more.

p.s. serge - it's never too late for JB to make that idea of yours (casa d'angeo) work. the signed napkin

serge - remember our conversation on amzn. company is amazing. they realized what they needed to do with their millions of surfers. And that was offer them a one stop shop website. They offer everything. they are not just a bookstore anymore. and with the explosion of retail sales on the internet, they will continue to be strong.

well, i am off fr a bike ride. it's a beautiful day down here in miami.

one last thing - a quick reminder, next week we have colin's bday on dec 9 and mine on dec 10. Happy Bday!!! :bjump: :bjump: :bjump:

Jonas,
Joee got in JB's e-mail and now "the napkin plan" is flowing any way Joee choses it to flow.

I have a feeling I'm gonna get the ears of a dead mule, as we say in Russian,
kadohas, gurnisht, as we say in Yiddish,
zilch, as we say in English

I have Time Warner stock and was excited about the merge. AOL had been steady for some time and Time warner was already offering cable internet in lots of places you wouldn't think.

I thought thier marketing approach was all wrong in packaging up cable and subscription packages. AOL is still too focused on throwing bullshit upsell ads in your face.

Then again when the web first come along there were all kinds of small ISP's selling dial up. You wondered why the major telco companices didn't come in. They waited for people to catch up, put all their ducks in a row and hammered out all the small ISP's.

AOL/Time Warner can take losses now because I think they have an even bigger plan when technology catches up and they merge digital TV and interactive services. Everything on demand. They'll take that lead.

AOL was the first, the biggest... and now falling the fastest. Basically, they have alot to lose and few clients to gain.

DSL without AOL has shown so many people that the net is a better place...

AOL should give in and create an Adults Only Section....make it a premium service....they wouldn't even have to deal with the more fringe niches....many a happy pudwhacker would be just fine with "mainstream" porn....you think people are panicking now? this would send this industry into a Helter Skelter....personally, I love chaos and think it would be fun to watch....

Anytime MS...whatever (MSN) comes at you with your biz in it's crosshairs count your ending days....

AOL is clearly in hurting shape now that MSN seems to be pushing a bit harder on that marketshare.... I give it less than a few years before MSN is the new AOL in regards to who's the king of the ISPs...

I don't see AOL/Time Warner lasting together in their current form very long. Wouldn't suprise me to see someone making a bid for the online segment of the business, and it being split from the rest of it.
