Definition of ironic:

It is December 3 and the Braves have lost a game more recently than the Falcons.

With Michael Vick about to become the Michael Jordan of football, he'll be right up their with with Tiger Woods as the most famous American sports star. So I was thinking about the team that let him get away, San Diego traded the right to draft him to Atlanta.

Sports history is filled with one sided trades, especially when there is a player who becomes a monster superstar player.

I think the Vick trade might turn out to the be greatest trade in sports history, greatest in that BOTH teams involved were made by the trade in question. San Diego got their young starting QB Drew Brees AND LaDanian Tomlinson AND Tim Dwight for Vick. Brees is going to be a fine starting QB for 10-15 years, Tomlinson is putting up amazing numbers, a dominant player, Emmit Smith with they say more explosive speed . Dwight is a solid wideout.

So i think this might be the greatest trade in NFL history some day if not now.

Mutt...

I totally agree....This is an excerpt from one of the Atlanta Journals Sports Writers columns yesterday.....

By now, the NFL has seen enough of Mike Vick to be scratching its collective head about this: Why in the world weren't another dozen or so teams, at least, competing creatively and vigorously with the Falcons to pry the No. 1 pick away from San Diego in the 2001 draft?

Sunday was a great day for the San Diego side of the Vick trade, too: LaDainian Tomlinson, whom the Chargers took with the Falcons' original No. 5 pick in the '01 draft, rushed 37 times for 220 yards and caught 11 passes for 51 yards as the Chargers beat Denver to take the AFC West lead.

Calculator, please. Between them, Vick and Tomlinson combined for 393 yards rushing and 617 yards total offense in two overtime victories. Pretty good return for one day from one trade.

Mike....

That's not fair....I was pulling for your team to beat the Bucs....why can't you return the favor???? ;)

I think Mike is pulling for the Bucs so the Saints can get ahead of Falcons and then hunt down the Bucs. If they Saints tie Bucs, they are ahead of Bucs.

Give that man a prize. Colin is right on the money.... as always!

Go Bucs!!!

Colin.....Dude, I love you man but keep up.....I know exactly why Mike wants the Bucs to beat my boys.....its the exact same reason that I wanted the Saints to beat the Bucs (its all about the road to San Diego)....I just lied when I said that I was pulling for the Saints because of my friends in NO.

In fact, the reality is that Michael doesn't want the Saints to have to face the Falcons again because it seems that we know how to beat them this year.......but, I, on the other hand, am not as confident. I truly, truly, truly hope that we do NOT have to face the Saints again this year. I would rather try to beat Favre in the cold than to have to face the Saints in the Georgia Dome. It's just the law of numbers....how many times can you possibly do it in a row????

Don't get me wrong....at this point I think we can beat ANYBODY that we put our minds to.....I just don't want us to get that big head that happens to easily. Two months ago would you have ever thought that my biggest worry would be the Falcons getting complacent??? I have watched it happen to too many teams in the past and I do not want to see it again.

Of course, either way the Falcons will be VICK-torious :)

Awww T, I thought you were pulling for the Saints because we were buds!!

The Saints SHOULD run the board, but the remaining games against poor teams are the toughest games for the Saints.

Hopefully they are focused now....

Kordell Stewart was the last Michael Vick and he lost his job to an insurance salesman. Food for thought. :P

Hey ... the guy's got the makings, no doubt about it. Like Ulfie pointed out, though, there are an awful lot of folks who were going to be the next best thing since round wheels and sliced bread that are now footnotes in a trivia book.

I will now re-don my sackcloth and retire back to my ashes and return to wailing, as all good Rams fans are.

and we welcome the Saint to Baltimore this week
While the Saints should be heavily favored they may find snow on the ground and an outdoor stadium to play in the cold

while the Raven's offensive can't score, somehow the youngest team in the league has found a way to be at .500 this late in the season without Ray Lewis
Strange things happen and Brain Billick (love him or hate him) should be a strong candidate for coach of the year

The Saints won last week by making big plays (Joe Horn had a great game)

Sorry Sweet T, I have to disagre with you, I would rather play the Saints again then play the Packers at Lambo
Farve has never lost a game at Lambo when the temp is below 34

and in 2000 the Raven's beat the Titans 3 times in one year - twice in Adelphia where the Titans had never lost a game
Sometimes it's about Destiny

One game at a time baby!
The Saints better not look ahead, cause they are prone to puke games up to lesser teams....

The Ravens are first on the list!

Hey Vick..... how about a friendly wager???
I'll give you the Ravens and the points (whatever they may be... they're "OFF" right now), for a beer in Vegas??? :D

Hey bpj - sorry I won't be in Vegas next year but I'll take the wager for a beer payable the next time we see each other :P

Ulfie, I think Vick is a better athlete then Kordell ( Kordell is a good one though), faster, better runner. I think he is surrounded by better, more experienced coaches as well, and might even make better decisions then Kordell.

Right now I am still not convinced Vick will be more then a flash in the pan, due to his unnatural running ability. All running QBs eventually stop running so much - if not there time in the NFL would be limited....

No doubt Vick is a great athlete. He's also a better passer than Kordell. Eventually defenses catch on no matter how good you are. Mark Bruenell used to be a great runner as well. 3 knee surgeries later he doesn't leave the pocket as much. I just don't see a long carrer for any "running" QB.
