I haven't seen this episode but there is a South park epidode titled
"The Biggest Douche In The Universe"
Stan: "You are a douche"
John: "but I say the voices I hear are the dead speaking to me"
Stan: "then you are a stupid douche"

I agree, South Park is hysterical!!
If that guy has been proven a fake why in the hell does he still have a show?
That other guy your referring to, is that the gay medium guy?
And what about Sylvia Brown?? What do you think about her?
http://johnedwardpsychic.com doh!
hate to see that..... ;-))) :awinky:

I dunno why actually...he denied everything....I guess people just 'want' to believe....
Yes, the gay medium, Van Prague or something....I like him much better. :)
Sylvia Brown - hmm....I'm not all that convinced of her abilities. I've read a couple of her books and she doesn't 'talk' directly to the 'spirits' per se...she says she gets all her information from her spirit guide 'Francine' who looks through the 'akasha records' for her and reiterates the info....
My views of the afterlife differ from her ideas...so I'm not so apt to believe her...not to mention that 1 reading from her by phone is $700 bucks...and if you don't have the money? Well you can always get her son to do a reading for you for $350. ;)
She's far too commercialized for my taste.

That show is sad, a bunch of desperate people that desperately want to believe their loved ones are ok in the "afterlife".

why is it that so many psychics end up doing readings in dark rooms in the shitty side of town... and so few end up in Vegas in the High Rollers Suite?

I've never dealt with psychics, well other than bpj :)
but i've dealt with a company that had " Mystic " in their name. and yup i
got raped.
never again will i touch a mystic, a psychic, a clown, a ventriloquist, or any of that weird shit.
The amazing Randi is still very much alive along with his 1,000,000.00 reward for anyone who can demonstrate genuine psychic or supernatural powers. To date, nobody has even passed the preliminary test, lol.

Good morning everyone,
just want drop a note about mediums, because we always see how people confused Mysticism, Spiritualism ...etc with Spiritism, lots people use the title of medium in an unresponsibly way, the same way as we have informed professionals and clueless ones. When someone talk about mediums and Spiritism , they mean only this Spiritism on the link below, I put the links because is much better english then mine. :wnw:
http://kardec1.com/englishcover.htm
http://www.connect.com.br/~espirit/english...mination/01.htm (http://www.connect.com.br/~espirit/english/dissemination/01.htm)
Practical Spiritism
All practical Spiritism is free of any charge, which is within the Gospel principle that we must
"Give for free what we receive for free." The practice of Spiritism is held without any exterior cult, within the Christian principle that God should be adored in spirit and truth. There is no ministry within Spiritism neither does it adopt or use in its meetings or in its practices any of the following: vestments, alcoholic beverages, incense, tobacco, altars, banners, candles, processions, talismans, amulets, sacraments, the making of promises and the paying of penances, horoscopes, fortune telling with cards or sea shells, pyramids, crystals, rituals or any other form of exterior cult. Spiritism does not impose its principles. It invites all those who are interested in getting to know them to submit its teachings to the test of reason before accepting them. Mediumship, which permits the communication of the Spirits with Man, is a gift which anyone can have, independently of whatever doctrinal guidance they may choose to follow. Spiritist Mediumship is only that which is practiced based upon the principles of the Spiritist Doctrine and within Christian morality. Spiritism respects all religions, valorizes all efforts towards the practice of goodness and recognizes that "a true person of goodness is one who fulfils the laws of justice, love and charity in their greatest form of purity."
Don't worry I am done, lol :bwave: , wish a very good day for everyone, it is all good :P

Forget mediums - I like it rare :P
Actually I have ranted about John Edwards since the first time I saw him, couldn't believe he had a TV show and wasn't exposed sooner
I've done the John Edwards bit for friends just to prove he was a fraud, it a bad parlor trick at best
and preying on the grief of others ..... :(

Once, when I was doing a lot of employment law, a "psychic" who was employed by the local franchise of the "Psychic Friend's Hotline" came to discuss legal remedies for unpaid wages. The married couple who owned the franchise were known as "Apollo and Celestial Diamond"...
The "psychic" told me she was NOT psychic, that she never claimed she was, and the name of the game was to keep people on the phone as long as possible. She said the conversations ranged from comical to tragic, with very sincere people expecting her to give them advice on all kinds of important issues in their lives. She was a former hooker, recovering from Hepatitus C, so took the job because it was physically undemanding.
I left Apollo and Celestial Diamond a message on their phone, after they failed to return several calls, and advised them they should "foresee" an action for unpaid wages with the Labor Board soon if they didn't pay up. Apollo called and said that was a cheap shot, and that he didn't like me (oh waaaahhh) but they paid within the week.
All's well that ends well, except for the unfortunate believers who were talking to a phony psychic looking for answers at $3 a minute.
Yup LL, it's very sad indeed...especially when the owners don't pay their bills....
I knew a girl who was a call in psychic working for a big company (might even be the same one you stated above)...
She told me that they were told to 'pick an element' and roll with it...
In other words,
earth
air
fire
water
Take your pick...lol. The girl 'did' know tarot cards though.....and let's face it, with tarot cards helping you out it's easy to get a neat little story going for the caller.
I find it disguisting when people take advantage of others who are in a vulnerable state. :grrr:

Thanks for the Randi links guys...I found the site after...*gasp* searching Google...hehehe
I love how he used to tear Uri Geller apart...I always thought Uri Geller was a goofball and was so happy to see Randi there slamming him and recreating everything Geller ever did.....
I remember when Randi was young and he used to do body manipulation stunts like get buried in a block of ice (whoops, I guess David Blaine isn't so original after all ;)) and lay down in a box full of dynamite that went off...when I was really young I remember some incident with a barrel and a waterfall, may have been Niagra Falls, but can't clearly recall.....
