What I'd like to know is how they would keep "Cry Wolf" down? Someone pisses you off and you propose false evidence against them just to provoke an audit.

It was years ago but I remember reading about a neighboring feud that went that far.

I have few fears. The IRS is one of them. I try to keep everything on the up and up.

Remember a few weeks ago there was a discussion about ending federal taxation and collecting on the retail end? Is this something they’re looking to implement sometime soon? I thought it was a great idea.

I would imagine there are a lot of people in this business who do not pay all the taxs they need to. I was audited about 4 years ago, it was a long process - the IRS sent multible agents, they were more interested in how we made money and reported it. They spent 4 months tryingto figure out the "adult" business....

So I know there is a white paper on Internet Porn Busniess and what agents should look for....

Fortunately I like to sleep well at night, so I normally over pay taxs... I do not need to give the gov't or anyone else a reason to make my life difficult.

As far as the ratting people out, there are protections - I know a few people who had the dime dropped on them. It was not pretty, always easier to pay before the IRS comes knocking on your door.

I've been audited an astounding 3 times...but I think it's because I live in vegas....those fuckers love to come to Vegas and have a little vacation for 3-4 days while "figuring outt exactly what I do"...

Luckily, I keep pretty spot on, but with our embezzlement problem earlier this year, if I get audited again, it could get very nasty.....

I hadnt thought of that, though I am sure they pay US citizens who can find the form and fill it out if there is a recovery -- they sure do hide it on their website, but it's not impossible to get the form.

I was audited once several years ago - not fun, but they ended up owing me money (not much, but it was still sweet :P )

Then the IRS and the FBI were investigating a former boss of mine - who is currently vacationing for 4.5 years at Club Fed - and they called and asked if they could come to my house for the interview. When they ask, you say yes - but it was very awkward :zoinks:
