Broaden your horizons, and start watching more

TE, I have, and it made me dislike it even more ;-)

sports are mostly just stupid macho ways of seeing who has the biggest dick, and if you don't grow up loving it, I don't see how you could fall in love with it later.

its really a stupid game, a bunch of oversized meathead guys slamming into each other as hard as they can to protect an oval piece of vinyl and air. there appears to be no rules, as the ball can be thrown forwards which kinda defeats the purpose. the players have to wear so much gear you can't see what they look like. I could go on.

the fact remains TE, and others, if you haven't watched this game all your life, it really is a big piece of shit
:agrin:

Dianna, yes, it is boring as hell when the topic is all football. go start one of your cool threads that talks about something else ;-)

Serge, you're not alone, I never look at the football threads either. I used to follow football like a rabid dog when I was married in the early 90's (to get away from the wife hehe) .. but now that I'm running a business, its not a priority. I didnt' even know some cities had football teams hehehe.

I'm probably the only person here who's seen less football this year than Serge...

I love to bet football, but never watch it...I think I accidently saw a split second of a college game yesterday while surfing the dial......

Now, baseball on the other hand...two tv's going at the same time, both with picture-in-picture ;))

and bowling...there's a sport :) ok, mroe fun to participate in than watch, but I love any game that I can drink a beer and eat pizza or a hotdog while participating in...the only sport with a beer frame......speaking of which, if we get on the end next to the Christian league again this Thursday, I swear I'll purposely say "fuck" every time I bowl, regardless of outcome....

Anyone else want to bring their bowling ball to Vegas this January for an unofficial tourney?

Oh hush, some of us LOVE the cricket.

The fact that the Aussies took the Ashes series against the Poms already (best of 5 but we already thrashed them in the first 3), plus the fact that the Poms couldn't even last long enough to make any of the tests run the full 5 days just shows the incompetence of the English cricket team. ;)

I was saying to someone yesterday that I couldn't believe that a country with a population the size that England has couldn't find 11 blokes that could play cricket better than the current lot. :P

Pikey -
I'd be down for cricket! I get to play silly-mid-off - my favorite cricket position! :awinky:

Serge - I find myself more often than not just marking football threads as "read" without ever opening them! Viva La Threaded Boardo! :zoinks:

LOL ... yes, that was a pretty harsh message huh?! :D

TE, I really don't hate the game, i just don't have any interest in it ... lucky because if I did I would be very disappointed at our lack of tv coverage of it here in oz ...

I'm all for anything that brings fun and enjoyment, and the football pickem at least gets everyone involved ... and we all have just as much chance of winning even if we have no clue about the game.

The threaded board lets you football fans post without making us non football fans read it, so there seems to be even more football talk these days.

I'd love to make it to a game one day, just for the experience ...

i dont like football. its not just a question of understanding the game and not liking it because i dont know the players, the plays, the strategies etc. i just dont like watching fat people bash into each other to move a ball one yard at a time. its slightly more entertaining than Curling. slightly less entertaining than smacking myself in the face with a stick for hours on end.

Right on!

I DO understand how the games are played and also played lots of sports. I even came close to winning pick 'em using the random thing. I just can't get into it. If I walk into someone's house and everyone is watching a game I'll leave and go do something esle. It's just boring for me.

I do understand that Oprano has a lot of football fans.

So after being away for a few days I come back and see a shit load of sports topics and Colin usual brain hurting topics.
