OK it is that time of year again, so I am looking for some cool Christmas gifts for close family members ( Parents, sister, Granny, and my 2 nephews one is 3 and other is a year) , Katie, and my partners.

Last year I gave my parents a Digital Picture frame, http://www.digi-frame.com/df1710.html IT was not this one, but a smaller one...

I picked up an antique pocket watch from the civil war era for my father....

Katie was easy last year, jewelry is always good.

I am looking for some cool, unique, thoughtful gifts.

So spill the beans, I know you guys are scouring the net and the malls looking for the coolest gifts, so please share.... and I will post some of the things I am looking at.

Hmmm, send your parents on a trip, they'd probably love to get away ;)

Fine stemware is always a hit, picked up the Riedel Bordeaux and Montrachet sets for my folks this year, they love this sort of thing:

... plus they have some great decanters as well.

I agree w/KK vacations are a good deal too ... I'm already setting up a sailfish fishing trip in Islamorada for my dad this winter in prime season.

and for the techies in the family .. there's always the old standby:

MikeAI - don't know if you've gotten tickets already but
http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSole...ion/default.htm (http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/tickets/touring/dralion/default.htm) :D

Tickets on sale now for Feb shows, tie it together with dinner at Brennan's and get a limo? :D

I'm thinking about sending my parents to Broadway for a weekend to see Hairspray

Great part is the story is based around a dance show/program which was based on the Buddy Reed show here in the 50's in Baltimore
and if you ask my Dad you were "cool" here in Baltimore in the '50's if you could get your song played on the Buddy Reed show

That is a good idea KK... I have 2 trips coming up that I am taking them on. Week next week we are all going to Orlando for a week - should be real fun with my nephews. Then they may be coming to Vegas for the show... I gave my dad the bet I made at Caesars for the over under for the Saints ( 7) which they should go over. So they will use that money to finance their Vegas vacation...

Also cruises are what I normally get Granny - she is the cruise queen. She has been on over 75 of them in her life.... infact she is on one now. :D

If anyone in your family is studious I'd suggest Levenger, http://levenger.com/ and for the sharper image alternative http://hammacher.com/.

Land's End has a big catalog of colder weather stuff, L.L. Bean as well, not sure how big you are on clothing.

http://signals.com is part of Target's site it appears, but they have quirky stuff as well. Sorry my family is kind of stuffy so these were the types of things we gave each other.

If you want to make them miserable give them animals. Like a hamster, or if you're feeling especially vicious give them a bulldog or something with strong jaws.

:D

Planning to finance anything on a Saints bet is too funny. I was cleaning out my wallet the other day and found an old sportsbook stub from last fall, one of your sure winners you had me bet for you lol... it was the Aints ;)

KK - over under was 7 games, so it is at LEAST a push with 6 more games left, including one against the Bengals.

Mutt, no porn, I give that away for Hannukah! :yowsa:
